Stupid question, and am hoping a Freeper can link me to something helpful.
Does anyone monitor these stories to compile a list of successful self defense shootings? I keep meaning to start a list to proffer when confronted with some anecdote provided by the Sarah Brady clan in support of gun control.
I read about successful self defense shootings almost weekly on Free Republic, and am wondering if there's a way to find them all in one place, for easy reference?
Thanks!
DaveLoneRanger alerts us to such stories. Maybe he can help you. Ask him to add you to his ping list.
It's not a stupid question at all. If our media were actually "Fair & Balanced" we'd be hearing these types of stories all the time. The NRA has for decades compiled these news accounts in a column they call "The Armed Citizen". Here's a link to the archives:

Thanks to Daveloneranger.
The NRA I understand keeps an archive...I've read in the past that criminal activity is thwarted upwards of a couple million times a year by armed, law-abiding citizens, most all of which there are no casualties involved...
The FBI keeps track and releases a report every two years, I think it is every two years. The last one I read had 3 million successful self defense shootings per year. This included non-shootings as well, in other words incidents in which the victime scared the perp away simply by displaying a firearm. So, about 3 million times a year law abiding citizens save their a** by the use of legally owned firearms used in self defense. Hope this helps.
I would check with the National Rifle Assn. They monitor this stuff and publish stories in their magazine.

Not complete but it does compile.
People need to send in the stories.
He keeps an armed citizen ping list.
