The Drop Broke Saddam's neck killing him instantly. At the executions following the Nuremberg Trials others were not so lucky.

"..The executions, in a brightly lighted prison gymnasium where three looming black wooden gallows had been erected, were witnessed by a handful of Allied military officers and eight journalists, one of whom, Kingsbury Smith of International News Service, wrote a famous newspaper article, "The Execution of Nazi War Criminals, 16 October 1946," based on his eyewitness observations. Although Smith discreetly omitted mentioning it, the experienced Army hangman, Master Sgt. John C. Woods, botched the executions. A number of the hanged Nazis died, not quickly from a broken neck as intended, but agonizingly from slow strangulation. Ribbentrop and Sauckel each took 14 minutes to choke to death, while Keitel, whose death was the most painful, struggled for 24 minutes at the end of the rope before expiring..."
Hi onyx!! I've missed chatting with you and all of my FRiends too! I've been lurking now and then so I can stay informed, but I've just been a tad too busy lately to post. Matter of fact, I have to sign off now so I can get into the other room where I can see the t.v. Hubby fell asleep on the couch so I don't want to disturb him.
Oh, and Iran & Syria need to get a big BUSHell dose of a reality check, IMO. I think it's time to build some gallows every few yards across their borders with Iraq. I bet we could find plenty of folks right here on FR who would gladly donate rope.
Because I'm proud as hell of him. Why does anyone brag on their kids accomplishments? Do you think everyone who has a kid in the military here should shut up?

He's in the Idaho National Guard. Made private first class in the first stage of training. I'm damned proud of him. He's a fine young man all the way around. He and his lovely bride just made me a grandfather for the first time a couple months back as well.
But, sadly, no, VERY SADLY, many voters vote for who they think "looks good" and whom the MSM tell them they SHOULD vote for. This is usually Dems.

Look at Ike! After WW II, BOTH major parties wooed him and wanted him to run on their ticket. He went GOP and won. And NO, that was an election that WAS won on charisma and media and BIG backing and BIG money. Of course, it helped that his opponent was Stevenson, whose speeches "sounded good" to many an "intellectual" or intellectual "wannabe", but IF one reads them, they are just DREADFUL!
"Leadership"? JFK couldn't lead his own way out of a wet brown bag! But Nixon was not only ill, during the televised debate, he refused to wear makeup. Everyone hearing Nixon on the radio, said that he had won hands down! Those who watched the debate, claimed that JFK had won; based on LOOKS.
