"This thread and others in a similar vein exhibit an ugly side to Free Republic that is just as revolting as the cruelty expressed on this site in October 1998 when so many here (still) rejoiced at the murder of Matthew Shepard. ... I objected then and was banned. ... I should not have returned. You have learned nothing."

To equate the murder of Matthew Shepherd and any low-brow, insensitive comments that might have been posted at that time with the dark humor expressed, by the American people who have sacrificed their blood and treasure to make the whole world a little safer by shutting him and his sons down, PERMANENTLY, over the impending judgment of a mass killer who supported and funded terrorism against his neighbors and Americans overseas... is truly a stretch. Incredible.

Saddam's victims would disagree with your misguided moral superiority.

Pr 29:2 ¶ When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Saddam's victims

Powerful, powerful post Salem.
Let us not forget that this event is ultimate justice for those tragic and innocent victims of his brutal regime.
No doubt he is going to rot in hell.

Thanks for posting those horrible pictures. Some on this thread need to be reminded of terror that was Saddam.

Those pictures should be printed in newspapers across the country tomorrow a.m., to remind people why this execution is happening.

It makes you wonder why a person becomes so cruel and inhumane. What sets a person off like that?

I suppose he (and others like him) decided that attaining the goal of absolute power requires a lot of bloodshed. But all of Saddam's atrocities--it seems to go way beyond just holding onto power. He really seemed to revel in causing human pain and misery.

I saw some Arabs on TV, in Dearborn Michigan, celebrating Saddam's demise, hooting, hollering, and thoroughly enjoyng themselves. It was just terrible. They were not nearly somber and serious enough. But heck, what do they know about it all.
