I really tried to like Mark Twain, but I can't. Bierce is it for me. Have you read the Complete Civil War Stories? "Owl Creek" isn't the best, imo, even though it's in the high school anthologies.

Bierce is it for me. Have you read the Complete Civil War Stories?

I liked the one about the soldier who met his father on the battlefield.

I've met one of Bierce's decendants- I used to work in the same building and I'd talk with him from time to time.
