I found it a bit fascinating and a bit telling that Saddam's last effort, when he finally saw the writing on the wall, was an appeal to U.S. courts for the U.S. to maintain custody of him.Good point!

I remember it well.
I wonder where Eason is tonight? Reminiscing about better days gone by, no doubt.
He will miss Saddam. May he grieve in peace.

We aren't exactly dancing here, but my family is happy... Saddam was the one dancing. He did the air-jig over a trapdoor.
He didn't need tap-shoes but I bet having a jumpsuit gave a big finish.

Exactly right. There was fear that he would come back to power. Now that fear has died along with this monster.
This is a HUGE step for the Iraqi people.

I wonder if Saddam pooped his pants? Remember in Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood"? One of the criminals to be hung was worried he'd poop his pants.
Capote's subjects Richard Hickock and Perry Smith were being prepared for the gallows, along with another critter, by the name of Andy...
Hickock or Smith: Hey, Andy! Does it tell anywhere in them books what happens when you make the drop? Andy: Well, your neck breaks ... and you crap your pants.
Hickock or Smith: The trouble with you, Andy, you got no respect for human life ... not even your own.

"Saddam "Came Apart" at the hanging:
But Iraqi government officials who are close to the case described a very different Saddam, one who was extremely nervous Friday evening when U.S. officials reportedly handed him over.
"He is in a state of shock," said Mithal Alusi, a parliament member who sat in on the government's daylong meetings Friday about Saddam's fate. "He came apart. He realized he couldn't escape this.""
I wasn't celebrating, but after reading this, I might change my mind.
I have been relieved that this thug can not harm anyone else.
Thanks for the link.

"During Saddam Hussein's time there was no violence or killings or terrorism or evictions," he said. If you don't count the mass killings of Kurds and Shiites, as well as the eviction of the former in favor of Sunies.
But they aren't Tikrities or even Sunies, so they don't count I guess.

My bet would be on Iraq TV...........you know the FREE media that they now have because of our incredible military and their courageous Commander in Chief?
The Iraqi people are rejoicing, and THEY will show the world that the monster is dead.
That's my bet anyway.

This afternoon, FNC announced that Greta would do a 3 hour show tonight. That's WAY too much for me. I'm going to bed.
I have not watched FNC for more than 10 minutes since the election. Today's performance was completely abysmal. FNC and ALL of its employees ought to hang their heads in shame to put out the product that they do.
The fact that they are simply "the best of the worst" won't keep me as a news consumer. And I intend to inform my satelite provider and advertisers.
The state of the American media is simply disgraceful.

With this thread likely to go past 5,000 posts and IMHO that makes it a historic thread, also what will the person who posts #5,000 get?
To: ohioWfan
CNN is reporting that they expect images/video any moment.
