Fox is reporting he will be turned over to the Iraqis within 36 hours.
When they hang him, nobody knows.
I swear, I cannot believe they are going to hang his butt while another trial is going on.
(CBS/AP) A U.S. military officer says Saddam Hussein will be turned over to the Iraqis within the next 36 hours, and he expects that the Iraqis will execute their former leader before the start of the Eid religious holiday on Sunday, reports CBS News national security correspondent David Martin.
Meanwhile, Saddam's final moments will be videotaped by the Iraqi government, reports CBS News correspondent Randall Pinkston. National Security adviser Mouffak al Rubaie says the date of the deposed dictator's execution will not be made public, to avoid possible unrest from Saddam's supporters, but everything from the signing of the final orders by the judge, to the hanging itself will be recorded.
Iraqis, members of the coalition and international representatives will witness the execution. It's not clear whether the videotape will be broadcast on Iraqi television.
An Iraqi government official says efforts are under way to carry out the death sentence by the end of this month, indicating that they want to do the execution before Eid, which coincides with the New Year.

Goes to show you that their legal system beats the hell out of ours...
that turnover is going to be wild - you can bet that once he's handed over, the Sunni militia are going to make some move to free him - it will likely fail, but they will make some attempt.
Why not, if he were to be found guilty or innocent in the second trial, he'd still hang. This way saves the bother of the second trial, unless there are other defendants not also to be hung based on the last trial.
Just do it. It's not going to be pretty afterwords whenever it's done, so get it over with.
