Ex-dictators execution expected to be carried out by start of Eid> holiday Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, sentenced to death for his role in 148 killings in 1982, will have his sentence carried out by Sunday, NBC News reported Thursday. According to a U.S. military officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, Saddam will be hanged before the start of the Eid religious holiday, which begins that Sunday.
Earlier Thursday, Saddams chief lawyer implored world leaders to prevent the United States from handing over the ousted leader to Iraqi authorities for execution, saying the former dictator should enjoy protection from his enemies as a "prisoner of war." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16384738/

Crowds and crowd psychology usually try to center on one leader. Saddam has been it for the insurgency. His being gone will make it more difficult for the insurgents to have a unified leader and may even precipitate a struggle for leadership.
Best news possible. And will change things to be sure. Too bad not sooner. Too bad not tonight.

"Loophole"? BWaaa-Haaaa-Haaaa-Haaaa!
To: jimbo123
This is NOT what Fox News is reporting; they are reporting that the U.S. will turn him over to the Iraqis within 36 hours.
When they execution will come, they did not say.

Apparently, other cultures (including the Japanese, who executed three killers on Christmas Day) like to execute people by surprise rather than give them a specific time. Guess that kind of kills the whole "last meal" charade. Works for me.

"Didn't saddam's attorney Ramsey Clark promise that he'd find a "loophole"?"He did...but it is at the end of a heavy piece of hemp!
