Congress gave 23 reasons for the invasion. It was the MSM that decided to boil it all down to WMD.

Even the Administration and the State Dept. emphasized the WMD issue, however - because WMDs would have violated a UN Security Council resolution and gave justification under "international law", whatever that is. This was a case of trying to persuade other nations rather than making a clear, forceful case for war to the people of America.

Who cares whether Saddam violated a UN Resolution. I thought that freepers were against the UN. I guess not when it can be used for a rationalization for the Iraq mess!
