Yah think? Go on with you--you're making me blush!

If government school teachers were required to take the GED, 3/4th would fail. Do you have any citations for that?
I'd put the FReeper public school teachers up against you academically any day.

If 12 years isnt enough for the union to teach kids how to read what good will a couple more do?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
It would make jobs and more union dues for the NEA.

The market should determine amounts of teachers' pay--not a bureaucracy. Too many children are taught irrelevancies and anti-social behavior by pot-smoking, libertine, mentally affected teachers. Some of the better teachers are back-stabbed and fired early in their career attempts for nothing more than their conservative political opinions.

I'd love to teach in a school with teachers from FR. The ones here I've met are some of the sharpest, most forward thinking folks out there.
The problem with the rants about the horrible public school teachers is that it includes me--and yes I do take it personally at times. I do my damnedest every day and it's hard. It sucks to be a conservative teacher sometimes. There is absolutely no support from any corner, other than amongst ourselves and the occasional parent. We end up having to fight on all sides it seems. But I stay in there doing my best because to do less than my best would violate my core beliefs.

#13: Eliminate the NEA.
#14: Privatize schools. Use performance-based contracts for those privatized schools with independent verification of performance standards.
#15: Allow and fully fund school choice. Pardon me, but haven't you got that sequence wrong? Should be:
#1: Eliminate the NEA.
#2: Privatize schools. Use performance-based contracts for those privatized schools with independent verification of performance standards. [And that is "performance standards" not "politically-correct philosophy standards"]
#3: Allow and fully fund school choice.

That is just a random poster who doesn't really site his sources, but I'll accept them from a devil's advocate point of view
First - Those are high school senior scores--not college graduates.
Second - there is no cross-correlation to the GED that says students who score X on the SAT typically score X on the GED.
Third - those are those beginning their college career, not ending it. One would imagine that the lower your SAT, the more likely you will not even finish your college career. A better cross-correlation would be the GRE and the GED. A student must score X on the GRE to be the equivalent to the GED.
Other than that, nice try at least. I give you partial credit for the link, but a failing score on information. In purple ink of course as purple is the new red.

Well,,,the NEA wants to imprison 19 to 21 year olds and 3 and 4 year olds. That would give them even more years for the "anti-social, pot-smoking, libertine, and mentally affected teachers" do to their indoctrination.
By the way,,,one of my most vivid pictures of teachers is the 2000 Democratic Convention. Teachers were the single biggest group represented as delegates.
I remember these teachers, with their brightly colored pro-abortion signs and button on their lapels and hats, WILDLY cheering Bill the Philanderer as he made his way through the bowels of the Colosseum.
These teachers with the brightly colored abortion buttons and wildly cheering the reprobate Bill, support stabbing scissors into the brains of fully developed infants who are 9/10th born, scrambling the infants brains, and sucking the gelatinous mess out into a GUMCO surgical jar.
These are the people teaching our nation's children. Hm,,,I wonder if these NEA teachers serve cookies and mild with that?

Sorry, I asked for a citation for your statement that 75% of public school teachers could not pass the GED. Would you like to try again?
Here's another clue - just like the teacher who wrote the site you linked, not all teachers major in education.

Only two points to their tirade:
Total control,
and
More money.

....actually I did look at the SAT 2006 scores and found something interesting.
The mean score for those intending to major in education is 1442; the mean score for those intending to earn a bachelors was 1433. For those intending to earn a masters the score was 1542. So actually teachers scored about average for those intending to earn a bachelors degree.
Also as Amelia pointed out, many teachers do not major in education, but in a subject area and then add the education degree as a masters.
Numbers are fun! You can make them say just about anything you want!

Total control,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
They will push that control down past the pre-schoolers to toddlers in diapers, and finally be snatching infants from their mother's arms in the hospital.
They will control even minute of our adult lives.
So...where is the mainstream media? What the NEA is proposing is IMPRISONMENT of 19 to 21 year olds!
They are EVIL! They are nascent tyrants!

Why not mandate happiness. Just save a fortune and hand out diplomas like candy.
Graduation centers? could they copy communism more exactly?

Woah!! So I'm expected to supply links but you have yet to answer Amelia? Nice system you got going there, huh? Working out well for ya?
Pretty simple to find....since SAT's are run by the college board. Took me like 10 seconds to figure out where to go.
