Black American Muslims have always put Islam above color and heritage. Arabs and Muslims sold slaves and indeed still do long after the white Europeans and white Americans did. Black African slavery to the new world was largely ended because of the campaigning by white British Christians of an Evangelical bent.

Europeans and Christians sold slaves and also campaigned to maintain slavery. See for example, the South ca. 1850. Why do you chide black American Muslims for practicing Islam when you give black American Baptists a free pass?

In the original folios from which the King Arthur tales are drawn there's an instance where he praises and rewards a knight for having caught a runaway slave and returning him to his master.

Whether the story is true or not, looks like 5th Century and earlier Christian morality in the British Isles was a tad rugged.

I think you're mistaken about the people of Darfur. They're black Africans who I mistakenly thought were mostly anamists and Christians, I am wrong apparently. But I also think that slavery is still practiced in the Muslim world, especially the Arab Muslim world, that Muslim slave traders continued to harvest black African slaves long after Americans and Europeans stopped, and that most American Muslims either don't know this or don't care. As for black Baptists, I'm not really eager to chide them since I'm sure their apathy comes from a focus closer to home. And since so many black Muslims leaders have taken their anti-US show on the road to places like Africa, I'm thinking they should be more attuned to the plight of black Africans.

Oh, and black Americans are not being chided for practicing Islam. They're being considered odd for overlooking the role of Islam and Arabs in the slave trade that went on long after the 1850's and is still alive in some places today.
