Funeral events will begin Friday when the casket, accompanied by Mrs. Ford and family members, will arrive at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Palm Desert.
A private prayer service for family will be held, followed by visitation for invited friends before a public viewing begins about 4:20 p.m. PST.
On Saturday, the casket will be taken from St. Margaret's at 9 a.m. PST to Palm Springs International Airport, where it will depart at 10 a.m. PST for Andrews Air Force Base, Md.
On arrival, a motorcade will take the casket to Washington, D.C., stopping en route for a ceremony at the World War II Memorial, before reaching the Capitol for a state funeral in the rotunda.
A period of lying in state will begin after the funeral. Public viewing will continue on Sunday and New Year's Day.
On Jan. 2, the casket will be moved to outside the chamber of the U.S. Senate for a period of repose and then will be taken to the National Cathedral for a funeral.
The casket will then be taken to Andrews Air Force Base and flown to Grand Rapids, Mich., where it will be taken to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum for a service and public viewing.
On Jan. 3, the casket will be taken to Grace Church in Grand Rapids for an afternoon funeral service. It will then be returned to the presidential museum for interment on the north grounds.

Makes sense that they're using the DeVos place as the starting site - enough parking there. I attend a convention every year at the DeVos hall, staying at the Amway Grand Plaza, so this is the part of Grand Rapids I know well.
Funny that Media said Former President Ford was Uncoordinated and Dumb and anything else bad they could think of. But now he is the greatest man ever. Knife in back and now he great. Very sick of media but what is new about that?
Now they act like he was there best friends because he disagreed with the Bush administration. Nothing new.

Is that "w" story still around? A man I know worked in Larry Lindsey's office in the White House at the beginning of the administration, and he said that was a fabrication - their keyboards were all fine.
A lot of the phones did have the telephone #s taken off of them, though. :)

I knew Gerald Ford. He was a very nice man with great leadership abilities. He had more guts than Woodward will ever know or understand.
A person reveals opposition to policies after his death to effect his reputation. Ford always put the nation ahead of his reputation. If Ford had been opposed to the war he would have said so loud and clear. He did not care about his reputation. He cared about his nation.
Gerald Ford would have, in full view of everyone, voiced his opposition to the war. Ford did not do that. Only a coward would do what Woodward claims Ford did.. Only a person who wanted to earn media approval would do that. Ford sacrificed his own career and interests in the service of his nation. He would never have done what Woodward claims he did.
Waiting until after death to oppose his President is what a leftist coward would do. That is what a Bob Woodward would do. So I believe Woodward has, as he did to former CIA Director Casey, put words in Fords mouth that Ford never said.
You may recall that Woodward claimed to have interviewed fomer CIA Director Casey on his death bed. But on the date Woodward said Casey confessed to him, Casey was in a coma and in restricted intensive care and could not communicate with anyone. The nurses and doctors in charge of Casey's care said he was comatose and unable to communicate with anyone.
Only a "star: reporter for the Washington Post could get away with that kind of lie and be allowed to continue his reporting career.
One other point, Woodward and Bernstein were at the head of the line trashing Ford for pardoning Nixon. They both did their best to destroy President Ford. Does anyone with a brain think that Ford would reward Woodward for his attacks with an excursive interveiw to be only be revealed after his death? Especiall since Ford was well aware of what Woodward did to Casey? And he certainly knew what Woodward and Bernstein had done to destroy his own career.
I have always thought Woodward played free and lose with the truth. He proved how untruthful he is by claiming Casey confessed to him while in a coma and restricted intensive care. Casey was not allowed visitors while in intensive care. There is no way Casey could have told Woodward what Woodward claimed Casey told him.
Woodward disgusts me. Ford's estate should sue Woodward.
Ford was a man who wanted his words reported accurately. Ford would have insisted the interview be taped. I would betcha a ton of money Woodward does not have a tape recording of the interview or any other proof that Ford said what Woodward says he said.

I agree Woodward is a coward, I mean come on, Ford hasnt been dead 3 whole days, and Woodward is trying to stand on his back to promote himself and make some money selling books at his expense. Maybe his next book should be titles "Tales From The Crypt". Its obvious to anyone who can think for themselves. But without proof Ford didnt say what Woodward will claim he says, the media will perpetuate it as gospel and the sheeple will swallow it hook line and sinker like they do everything else. I dont know what sickens me more, the Woodward types, they lying media, or the idiots who believe everything they say.

The tape has been airing on television, and the Washington Post has some of it available to listen to today on its website.

It's nice to honor American presidents, but I sure wouldn't go out of my way to celebrate his political career.

Actually, per Joe Garagiola, President Ford had bad knees and that is why he fell sometimes. Garagiola was on one of the Fox news shows the other night, he and Ford were very good friends. He did not like that Chevy Chase made fun of Ford's stumbling.
