I'm saying that Duke University is ALSO responsible. Students will make poor choices on occasion; party, alcohol and a stripper. Some of the athletes walked away and were still accused. Universities are not police Mini-states, political correctness aside, and do not babysit your 20 year old offspring. The students generally appear to have exercised poor judgment. The DA appears devoid of justice and bears direct responsibly for the bogus indictments.

When it comes to basketball, Duke is very involved in protecting the reputations of it's players and coach.
Christian Latner, Duke's star from the last few seasons was arrested this last summer in Durham for DUI. He was driving his SUV with friends, and unsuccessfully tried to avoid a road block. If it had happened before the lacrosse story broke, it never would have made the news.

Christian Latner[sp], Duke's star from the last few seasons...
Christian Laettner graduated from Duke in 1992.

It is time to start putting advertising on Billboards outside Durham to warn white males of the risk of living in Durham, a city where white males are presumed guilty and may be punished by Duke University before they have been proven guilty.

You are looking at the wrong proportion. Check post#31... POST . No innocent man should be convicted regardless of race. I am certain that you find a Black mans wrongful conviction as unacceptable as a Lax players wrongful indictment.

Perhaps the decision back in the early 70's to make 18 the legal age for voting and becoming an adult was not well thought out. The big point back then was "if they are old enough to serve in the military, they should be old enough to vote". Maybe they should have given those who were drafted or enlisted the right to vote and be adults and kept the rest as children. Many states tried the 18 year old drinking law and found it doesn't work.

I heard a rumor that the accuser wanted to drop it months ago but Nifong has threatened her with jail time if she did.

From what I understand the dorms of Duke are no better.
To: HEY4QDEMS
I can't believe I did that! My most sincere apologies to Christian Latner.
J.J. Redick was the player I was thinking of, NOT Christian Latner.

One thing I find very interesting since since Nifong's latest decision is the lack of Black Rage here in Durham. I guess they must be content with the kidnapping sexual assault charges.

I didn't realize there was such a high number of African immigrants that have been granted dual-citizenship.

Check out the INN0CENCE PROJECT showing racial stats on 180 exonerations after conviction. Such stats would of course be affected by what cases the project chooses to focus upon; I don't know whether the cases they work on are a fair and representative sample of the cases out there.

Christian Laettner goes back about 15 years. Big part of the 1991-1992 back to back championships. Made "THE Shot" against Kentucky after the fullcourt inbound from Grant Hill. Spent a few years in the NBA without the same fanfare he had at Duke.

"It's no secret that hugely disproportionate numbers of the innocent people oppressed by abusive prosecutors and police in this country are African-Americans."
Yes, I'll agree that this perspective is no secret.
Indeed no "secret", it is instead more properly characterized as a self-sustaining liberal mythology; a blatantly sham propagated through the constant bleating of the MSM as an ingrained truth of racist American society.

This is Pro Feminist, Democratic Party's idea of Justice under the Law. The University's President and Professors tried these young Men in the Court of Public Opinion and found them guilty ,along with the media. What is clear now to anyone with to Brain Cells in their Skull is that Nifong preverted the course of justice for his own Career, and has flagrantly violated the Civil Rights of these Young Men. And where is the Skank, Crystal Gail Magnum?! Who now cannot remember if she was Raped??? How many times has this Drug abusing, Prostitute changed her Story?
This is now being called openly Prosecutorial Misconduct even by Slate, LA Times etc. It is time that Nifong be put on the Hot Seat for his Misconduct and his Resignation be demanded. He should face Charges himself if he does not quit.
To: Khankrumthebulgar
Nifong must drop all charges before he resigns!

A dirty game indeed!
A game that if it had went according to plan: Heads, Nufdung wins the election and a bright future in politics. DA, Governor, Rep, Senator, President of the USA. Tails; the Duke students, truth and justice are raped.

And just how do you propose they correct the problem of drinking in off campus housing? They have no authority to police it. These boys lived in the fraternity house for a reason... one of which is that it WASN'T the dorm.
