I liked James Brown. He had his share of self-destructive moments over his long active lifetime, but he always had energy. One of my favorite movies of all time was 'The Blues Brothers', and his part as the preacher in the black church was memorable, to say the least:

"Do you see the light!?"

That's an understatement. I interviewed Brown's wife for People magazine in 1988 after he had beaten her while high on PCP. She was black and blue all over.. I had never met a victim of domestic violence before, and this was a horrible case.

Sorry, just can't respect Brown after what he did to her and several other women.
