LOL.

My mom was recently in her eye doctors waiting room in downtown Atlanta when her cell phone starting playing Conway Twitty's 'Hello Darlin' which is the setting her granddaughter had programmed into her phone. She couldn't get to the phone fast enough and it played for awhile then when she tried to answer it the receptionist yelled "let im sing". After that an old man came out of the patients room and said "I miss Conway".

"I'd rather listen to a dying calf in a hail storm."

I hope to hail you get that chance. There are plenty of places, mostly in the south, where toronados occur with some frequency. There is plenty of hail, and it is not at all uncommon for grown cows as well as calves flying about in the twisting winds. May you get your wish.

I admit, when I was a kid, we didn't get far past laughing at his name, but now I know better.... Yes, ma'am.

My eyes are already blue--ooh, ooh-- but yeah that was a great song and Crystal is the real deal.

Eeks, don't know Don Williams. There are gaps in my C/W knowledge as I was not brought up on it. Well, correction: around here, we had Spade Cooley (interrupted by used car ads).

Enough said?

There was a time way back when that I laughed too then I learned better. His band at the time was alright but if he'd had the musician's that they have in Nashville today playing back up his music would have been unbelievable. Wonder if they could add a modern soundtrack behind his old vocals. Would love to hear that!

It is a good article, seeing as to how foreign publications usually botch domestic stuff. My only quibbles with it are the capitalizing of white when talking about 'White people,' and the failure to capitalize Marines.

I believe that the most famous of Don Williams' songs was, "Amanda" (...you light up my life. Fate should have made you a gentleman's wife...)

I could have bet you anything family squabbles have stalled that kind of thing happening. A little searching just indicated so.... too bad. His legacy is on "HOLD" right now.

I just looked something up... Don Williams wrote "I'll Need Someone to Hold Me (When I Cry)"... I loved that song, when Janie Frickie sang it. And what happened to her?

It looks like her website is gone.

I liked, "He's a Heartache."
