Ankle-deep in mud, six immigrant farmworkers raced to harvest 120,000 pounds before nightfall, knowing that at dawn they could find immigration agents at their door.  Huh?  They have such an incredible work ethic that they want to get the cabbage harvested and make sure the people of New York eat well, before they are hauled off by the evil immigration agents?

The farmer who stopped to check their progress had lost 28 other workers in a raid in October, all illegal Mexican immigrants with false work permits at another farm here in western New York.
And, he hasn't been fined or jailed and still keeps hiring illegal aliens using false documents?

Throughout the region, farm hands have simply disappeared by twos and threes, picked up on a Sunday as they went to church or to the laundry.  Never to be seen again!   Shades of the S.S.  It's the Apocalypse all over again!

Whole families have gone into hiding, like the couple who spent the night with their child in a plastic calf hutch...What  - the Times making a Christmas reference?  I guess when it suits them and their causes.

This is so bad, I find it difficult to believe that even the NYT would indulge in this kind of excrement.

"At room temperature, fermentation will be complete in 10 to 12 days."

This quote from the first article I grabbed on making sauerkraut. You are indeed right, the majority of the cabbage is used for that purpose, making the implied allegation "but what will we do without the cabbage for our sauerkraut just days before Xmas?" another of reporter Bernstein's lie. Better she went into conducting like her old man.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com 900 farms across central newyork might be lost to the bank in the next couple years as the illegal workers leave one step ahead of the ICE/INS and there's nobody to replace them.

So now everyone follows a job, not dad, chases money, not cows and so much is lost for the sake of progress.

That is so true. Millions of us sit in cubicles doing jobs we don't relate to for giant, lumbering corporations, so we can earn enough to pay for toys we don't have time for and homes we are rarely around. All the while, our kids are out doing their own thing and our extended families are spread all over the globe so we rarely visit. It's become a crazy, indirect life as we all run wildly in different directions. Even the traditional family schedules have been lost; "weekends" could be any day of the week, "suppertime" is laughably quaint. What have we done to ourselves?

Using someone else's SS number is not a felony. Using someone else's name and SS number is a felony.

What, indeed.

I remember being an innocent little boy ... I remember kindergarten plays and laughter ... I remember dreams and hopes ... I remember mama and dad ... I remember.

I'm close to sixty years old and I believe now, I am the keeper of the gate to that time and age for my children, much to the distaste of those that know me and us ... and my children feel the draw of a world that entices them to do and be different. Different from me ... different from my beliefs and memories ... different away from God.

My America is no more as it was and perhaps will/can never be again .. but I will persevere and lay my head down at the last .. a smile .. I tried.

I love you kids, more than you know nor understand now ... but I truly believe, one day, you will know me and ma and say "Thank you" .

God bless you

God Bless America

again.

"900 farms, illegally operating attempting to undercut the competition by employing illegal workers will be shut down."

So?

Statement: "Immigrants Go From Farms to Jails, and a Climate of Fear Settles In"

Response: It is to be hoped that the "climate of fear" becomes one of terror. So terrifying that millions flee the country. (Fat chance as there are too many taxpayer supported "goodies.")

"Notice when ICE raided the Swift packing plant the next day real legal AMERICAN workers made a line out the door to get jobs.

There ARE jobs Americans want."

Of course, one of the greatest myths about this illegal immigration situation is that "they do jobs Americans won't or don't want to". Fact is illegals make up 25% or less of every industry/field they work in. There are more Americans doing the same jobs that illegals do.

The other fact of this matter is most Americans are proud to admit they don't want those jobs, that is why we do our best to educate ourselves and find a better way. We go after better jobs b/c we can, where as illegals more often than not cannot go after anything but those menial shit jobs due to their over whelming lack of education.

Read my post. I quoted the article which quoted federal agents. If you have an issue with that, take it up with them.

I would think meat packing jobs paid somewhat well. I'd love to know if the illeagals were making the same money as legal American workers. Or if the company was complicite.

Also, meat packers have a union. Didn't the union know?

It's widely known that in recent years wages at not only Swift, but Hormel and other processors have plumetted. That is the vicious cycle of illegal employment--if your competitor is using them to gain an economic advantage over you, what can you do?
