There's another article on Free Republic right now entitled "Career Women can't get dates". I think on some primordial level these issues are connected. Let's be honest, your average American divorced guy, about 50, good job but not wealthy enough to attract a 20-something American woman, or even 30, he's been through hell from his ex-wife, women at his own level are looking for someone "better", hey, is he going to turn down a subserviant, beautiful, foreign lady who thinks being VP of a bank or manager of a stereo store is the pinnacle of success? Or the geeky software engineer who has a ketchup stain on his shirt? No American woman would date him, but the foreign girl knows she can support her entire family in a foreign land with a portion of his 80k salary.

A friend of mind is American of Asian descent, in technology field. Smart, but no American would date him because (1) he is 5'5" tall, and (2) he's a diehard republican. He got a mail-order Asian lady from somewhere in China. Do you know what this woman says she loves about America? RUNNING WATER! We have no idea the absolute triumph this is for these girls.

It's too bad, however, for any American woman over 40, you're pretty much destined to loneliness unless you sleep around. Or "marry down." This is just a primitive fact of human nature. Men want young and gorgeous and obedient. Women want strong, tall and reliable of a higher social status. If women are creating their own status, men do not impress them so much.

As long as you fully understand you're being used for your money...good luck to you!

*shrug* I'd probably put 40 as the extreme lower age limit.

My yuppie town is full of 40 ex-trophy discards. It's almost as sad as that joke page of Mail-Order available hunks that someone posted. They become bitter and hateful, but I cannot really blame them, because one day the whole script collapses when it is brutally revealed to them the real basis of their former marriage.

The men that did it resemble the ones on the joke page, except that they are now too impoverished to get newer replacement models.

The schism between men and women is as deep now as the one between Democrats and Republicans, seemingly without any hope of truce or tolerance.

Were I single in this generation, I would either go offshore, into a monastery, or throw myself under a train.

The women in my life who are friends all have some damage. They walk around with a lot of pain, but these few have not been turned bitter and hateful, which is why I do respect them so much. My male friends show the same symptoms, but because of the court system bias, are more bitter and angry.

That is why I hold so much contempt for the Media Gay Marriage Non-issue: So many people cannot get the mainstream version right in the first place and now we have to redefine relationships into Fairy Tales.

Some states are even reexamining the bestiality laws, so ones Dream Date does not even have to be human-Giving the term "Animal Husbandry" a new meaning.

Sometimes, in secret, I think that my long marriage is not a good thing, because "Forty years at ANYTHING (My career, for example) is just too damned long". Then reality hits, I see what is going on out there, and am grateful I don't have to play.
