Events were listed in the post, but no reasons. Surely, if an event were recorded, then the causes of the event would be recorded.

Thomas Sowell has written a number of books about the role of culture in the success of various ethnic groups (I'm currently reading "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" ). Jews are not the only "middle man minorities". In Asia and the Pacific Islands, the overseas Chinese have been doing the same roles as the Jews did in Europe. The Lebanese in Western Africa. The Indian in eastern and southern Africa. All these middleman minorities incur the wrath of the native elite, who stir up the locals against them

Why, because their wealth, and the power that can come from it, threatens the power and position of the native elite
