HOUSTON - Congressman Nick Lampson, newly elected to the seat once held by former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, underwent a procedure Friday to open up a partially blocked blood vessel, his spokeswoman said.
Doctors at Christus St. John Hospital in suburban Houston performed the angioplasty on the 61-year-old Lampson and placed a stent in the vessel.
Lampson was "conscious, alert and in good spirits throughout the procedure," spokeswoman Carrie Chess said in a statement. He was expected to be discharged Saturday.
His wife, Susan Lampson, drove him to the hospital Thursday night because he started feeling sick during dinner. The blockage was found during a test Friday afternoon, Chess said.
Lampson is expected to resume his normal schedule after the holidays, Chess said.
Although the case of this Congress-critter and Senator Johnson appear natural, the fact both of them blew out in a short period of time, in roughly the same area, should encourage Homeland Security to start checking for a ground-level, semi-high tech terrorist attack the denizens of Capitol Hill. Note that so far we've only heard about the politicians so affected, but an attack would undoubtedly be cutting a swath through the staff people as well.
"Seems to me you could mount a large microwave transmitter in a tractor trailer, along with a serious generator, and drive around cooking folks" ~
What!? I'm sorry...I don't get it.
No matter how times you roto-rooter a democrats arteries, they will always be filled with crap.

We don't have to agree with them or even like them but let us not behave like them.
Please keep it civil?
lol!
Prayers for his recovery.
Who died and left you hall monitor?
Air Force revealed some time in the early 1980s that almost everyone that'd worked there before 1966 or thereabouts had been injuired.
What we have here are a member of each house of Congress who could have had a pre-existing cardiovascular problem injured further with the very results we see.
We know the AlQaida terrorists keep going back and hitting on the same places they've targeted before. They've tried two attacks against Congress that failed. That means we should expect yet a third attack of an entirely different nature.
I wish him a speedy recovery.
As much as I would like for Congress to be in control of the other party I don't want it badly enough to get it by their team members dying off.
Well, thank goodness. I was thinking it was the VRWC and Karl Rove.
WHY????? The dems also talk crap about the republicans as way as libs talk about conservatives.

I always believed we take the higher road because we do not wish to be as they are. I remember all the nasty remarks from the libs when VP Cheney had taken ill (i.e., became sick after wiping his *** with the Constitution).
I am proud of how we acted when Sen Edwards wife was diagnosed with cancer (kind words and prayers). It really seemed to amaze many "progressives."
You can be choose to let other peoples behavior rule you. If you choose to give others that much power over you then rock on with your bad self. I won't lie; I have let them get to me and I have lost control. At the end of the day I have to decide if I respect who I am.
By the way Hildy; I wasn't playing "hall-monitor." I was only calling out a plea for good manners and class. I think I phrased it badly. No offense intended.
Doesn't necessarily need to be al-qaida...it could be a little higher up. God moves in mysterious ways. Whether we want to admit it or not, He determines the leaders of the countries....good and bad. (And I know I will get some flack from this.) :-)
Wondwer when Joyce Behar will blame this on the GOP.
Speaking as a resident in his district, I know the good hearted people in TX CD-22 will kindly want to relieve Lampson of this disease risk factor in 2008, for the sake of his health, of course. We should be compassionate conservatives, afterall.
It wont be difficult if we run a good election, you know, an election where the name of a Republican candidate actually appears on the ballot and other exotic stuff like that.
In all seriousness, get well soon Nick. We want you completely healthy when we kick you around for (mis)representing a conservative district as a liberal Democrat.
OMG---You have got to be kidding.
I wasn't awake when I had my stent put in. They gave me some sort of antisthetic where I had no sense of being knocked out or awakened. It was like someone snapping a finger and saying, "It's done. Go home." Damndest sensation I've ever had.
If you start spewing RF out in any quantity, the FTC or FAA will notice, especially in D.C. That said, microwaves are a potential weapon. Maybe politicians need to carry RF detectors? Congressmen of BOTH parties seem to die in unusual numbers especially from airplane accidents.
That makes it difficult to determine the controlling authority on any particular short term, intermittent source ~ DOD, in fact, won't even tell you it's not theirs.
Obviously that creates a large hole in our national defense perimeter and AlQaida will take advantage of it.
Microwaving Congress a member at a time is certainly a viable option for them.
