Today, President Bush and First Lady Laura went to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. to visit with volunteers and our brave troops. He awarded sixteen Purple Hearts. Here he is seen helping volunteer children wrap Christmas presents for children of families whose parent have been wounded in service to our country.
In leiu of a quote of the day, I offer you the complete text of his remarks:
THE PRESIDENT: Laura and I are honored to be here to thank the folks working here at this service project. What you're seeing is some young kids wrapping gifts for children whose families are here in Washington, D.C. as a result of an injury that they've received -- that the parent received in combat.
We've also just come from Walter Reed. I got to tell you, it's a remarkable experience to go through the hospital. It's remarkable because of the unbelievable compassion and care of the people who work at Walter Reed. And it's also remarkable to me, these men and women who have volunteered to serve our country, who've received terrible wounds, but whose spirits are strong, their resolve is strong, and their dedication to our country remains strong.
I want all our fellow citizens to understand that we're lucky to have men and women who have volunteered to serve our country like those who wear our uniform. We're lucky to have their families support them so strongly. We owe them all we can give them -- not only for when they're in harm's way, but when they come home to help them adjust if they have wounds, or help them adjust after their time in service. We owe a huge debt of gratitude for incredible men and women. And I -- every time I come to Walter Reed, I am moved by the courage and bravery of the people I meet.
And so on behalf of a grateful nation, I want to thank our military families, thank the folks here who are wrapping gifts for the military families, and ask for God's blessings on our citizens. Thank you.""

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island.....
Yay! Good for you. I'm done wrapping too. That's my least favorite part of Christmas. I am saving some of the housework till Dec. 24 in the evening, but will be prepping food all that day and part of the 25th. Then it'll be time to sit and relax. Oh yeah.
It makes us happier.
Me too..it's time for a break. Even those slime-balls deserve a rest at Christmas. It's my gift to them. Tee Hee Hee.
I don't understand how they don't care about electing Hillary. Do they understand nothing? The WOT is not over. Having a dim in the White House in 2009 will lead to the destruction of this country.
Poker fasces? Hahahahaha. His shows a "tell" as it is called on the TV Hold 'Em tournaments.
Good to see you, Dolly. I enjoyed the pics you posted today! Are you posting the Single's thread tonight? Thankfully, FR got faster than it was this morning.
***I love that he's helping wrap presents but it doesn't look like he's doing it very neatly lol.***
Typical man. I think they do that so that some woman will say, "Oh, NEVER mind. I'll do it myself." Oh well, it's better than comic strips and masking tape.
They're unappeasable and I think most are Storm Fronter's, Buchananites and infiltrators of various bents. I think they're here to demoralize and disrupt. The collective bunch of them couldn't elect a dog catcher.
Each one has his own litmus test. They can be counted on for always backing a third party loser or another candidate with no chance at all. They cast "principled" votes. Yeah, right. Voting is often times more about voting AGAINST the other candidate. We have two parties. It's one or the other and I view the democrats as unAmerican and dangerous.
Lol probably. My dad started getting me to wrap my mom's present every year starting when I was around ten.
You're way too organized, sissyjane! I'm sure I'm not alone in my envy.
Hope you had a good DC Chapter party!
You must be a wonderful aunt and still a child at heart. Bless you, Dolphy.
Oh no I'm not......I wish I were organized, then the work part of Christmas would already be done.
I'll help in the wars after Christmas too! The only wars I've been in are on the Duke thread....it was nasty today.
Merry Christmas to you too onyx, but then I'll probably see you again before Christmas.
This is the second or third dose alone this week that image has shown up.
Its becoming one of the classics, like the Bush kiss and the dance one from their inaguration. Are there any more that i can't think of?
yes, the thread is posted. It was not as nice as I hoped it would be ,,, I am not sure if you are on ping list, I know I personally ping you now & then....My pup Toby was out /gone for 2 hours, while i was trying to create thread for posting. I was distracted to say the least. At least it formatted up (as the Finest DID NOT)
Lots of heavy stuff going on here & abouts & of course thoughts/worries/prayers for Tonk & Kayak...and Dianna, whose son was killed a few days ago.
***I won't for candidate_________ because________________ even it if means electing the democrat or Hillary. So there.***
Good grief! Sounds like one I was on. I'm still getting insulting replies. Oh well, SOMEBODY has to tell the truth out there, don't they? I have learned not to let it bother me. (At least I think I have.)
Speaking of that..I had better make like an elf and get busy.
See you at the Christmas dose, if not sooner.
I have not been able to find an outdoor natavity scene for less than $600 and up. I wish they'd make some simple wooden figures that I could put a spotlight on.
