In Texas what do you pay for a 2400 sq. ft. home in taxes???
I get the joy of having $6,800 CONFISCATED from me with more taxed on all local purchase items (between 9 and 10%) as well as the gas costing us more than nearly anywhere AND taxes only go UP with all politicians spending any "surplus" on their pet projects (meaning anything that keeps them in office).
If I were you, I would stop complaining and get you and your friends down to your leadership in Texas and apply the breaks and demand proper planning. Here in NY you can not plan, you pay off enormous costs in permits and still get told you can do nothing wizout ze state approval! This is a nightmare state.
I am wiloing to be the worst of the states are NY, CA, MD, RI, MA, CT and NJ. I am sure a few others will tell us of how ugly it is in their home state, but the problem will only be solved by the states citizens rising up against the tyranny of the idiots we have allowed to be elected by our own inaction.
I live in Garland (a close suburb of Dallas,texas)and pay a property tax of roughly $2000 a year plus an 8% sales tax

My husband and I moved from Maryland in 1999 after living there for 18 years. It is a mess. We now live in a rational and safe red state.
The government schools are horrible. The adult illiteracy rate in my rural county ( with only 1% immigrants) was an astounding 20%.
