As for the shooting, it makes me ill. My son-in-law is a police officer. Two days ago, a 25 y/o officer in neighboring Oceanside was killed by some punk gang-banger for no apparent reason whatsoever. The officer left behind a wife and 2 month old son. It is almost unbearable to talk about.
Simply wearing the uniform makes them targets. So much evil out there.
As organized government increasingly becomes unable and/or unwilling to protect its citizens the citizens will start protecting themselves. Not pretty but inevitable.
