There've been several articles about it but nothing definitive. That looks quite a bit like a piece of stupidity compounded by an accident ~ that ol'gal would have shot a 5 year old showing up with a stick in his hand for one thing ~ but the officers were faster on the draw.

We had one of those in this area a few years back ~ illegal alien was renting a downstairs room. A bad guy lived upstairs. Cops came with a warrant. Went downstairs and the illegal and his wife had turned over their table and were hiding behind it since they thought it was the bad guy after them and not cops.

Cops busted open the door. Saw the guy's gun. Fired through the table to kill him.

They didn't give a moment's thought to the possibility the guy might have his family back there with him out of fear of the local bad guy.

He's dead. The cops walked. Doubt any of them are let near a cashregister though.
