It took you three posts to express youself and in the end, you said absolutely NOTHING of substance or relevence. Now that is delusional, but not unexpected.

>>>>Ronald Reagan was, until his death, a HUGE fan of FDR, whom he NEVER stopped praising.

You've convinced me. You don't understand who Ronald Reagan was, and you don't know anything about political conservatism. In fact, you've shown more disdain for conservatives and conservatism, then you ever have towards liberals and liberalism. You're nothing but a first class phoney.

After Reagan died, the liberal pundit Mark Shields said:

"Ronald Reagan represented a frontal assault upon the New Deal and upon the premise of activist government being the answer-- activist federal government-- to society's and the nation's problems..."

As a conservative I don't usually agree with liberals but Shields nailed what the Reagan Presidency was all about in that one short remark. Reagan quoted FDR from to time to time, when it suited his fancy --- when it suited his political agenda. Otherwise, the New Deal was something Reagan moved on from. In 1952, Reagan voted for Eisenhower and never looked back. Reagan promoted the idea of limited government like no one in recent memory and as POTUS took serious executive actions that reduced the social welfare and entitlement budget of the federal government. Reagan diverted funding from the welfare state to rebuild the US military into a first class organization worthy of the worlds premier superpower. In fact, when Reagan left office he actually cut the federal budget by 1.0% of GDP. He also reduced the annual welfare state budget from 53.4%, to 49.7% of the overall annual federal budget expenditures. Today Bush is spending some 67% on social welfare state.

>>>>Rudy is such a BIG GOVERNMENT FAN; that's WHY he CUT the size of N.Y.C.'s government, when he was mayor. I guess it's also WHY he not only save the city from bankruptcy, but left office with the city having a SURPLUS, WITHOUT HAVING RAISED TAXES.

Engaging in historic revisionism once again.

As Mayor of America's biggest liberal city, Rudy championed big government. He never attempted to abolish the city income tax. NYCity property taxes and utility rates remained some of the highest in the nation. Rudy left behind a projected $2-billion deficit and a city debt totalling $42-billion. A deficit second only to the federal govt. Contractual agreements under Rudy almost doubled, from $3-billion to $5.8-billion. And Rudy added 20,000 new city employees, of which 15,000 were teachers, swelling the ranks of the liberal AFT and the liberal NEA in the process. As Mayor of NYCity Rudy championed gun control and called on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban. Throughout his tenure as Mayor, in fact throughout his entire life, Rudy has supported abortion on demand and opposed partial birth abortion. He championed special rights for homosexuals and happily marched in the annual gay pride parade. Woohoo! He also supported NYCity as a sanctuary for illegal aliens. Rudy is on record supporting amnesty and a path to citizenship for the 15 million illegals living in the U.S. today.

You need to get a life. You really embarrass yourself, almost everytime you post on Free Republic.

Yes it is and VERY true! But the UNAPPEASEABLES are so tied up in knots over Rudy, that they are more than willing to show, publicly, how blinkered and ill educated they are. Sadly, we can expect the level of their shrillness and nastiness to escalate for the next 2 years; at least.

I hear Alan Keyes is looking for a job. There was a time when he was the pinnacle of their moral and intellectual standards.

Many Rudy haters would love Keyes to run again.

Try finding out ALL of the facts, before you shoot yourself in the foot; yet again?

The minute that the Cong found McCain, he IMMEDIATELY told them that his father and grandfather were ADMIRALS. Name, rank, and serial number? Forget that...old McLame spilled his guts! Many of his fellow guest at the Hanoi Hilton know all about him and what he did there and have reviled him for it, for decades! And you should look into what the POW families think about him. It'll blow your mind.

Yeah, the backlash AGAINST McKeating 5, will be TREMENDOUS,once more people actually are made cognizant of his words and deeds in Nam.

>>>>>You know too much about politics to convince us that you actually believe Rudy's candidacy is DOA. C'mon.

Its because I know a whole lot about politics that at this point in time, I'm saying Rudy`s candidacy is DOA for 2008. Social conservatives control the Republican primaries and they don't vote for pro-choicers or liberals. The word I'm getting is that conservatives in Iowa, New Hampshire and S.Carolina are not supporting Rudy. Its quite amazing to read posts from FReepers who are making such an effort promoting a liberal for POTUS in 2008. Not gonna happen. Frankly, lets see what the political playing field looks like for the GOP in 6-12 months. I've never been one to jump on any candidates bandwagon this early. This bandwagon for Rudy is strictly for moderates, centrist and liberals ONLY! And that is the problem. Without conservatives backing Rudy, the GOP will fracture and we'll see a return to Rockefeller Republicanism of the 1970`s.

The ONLY embarrassment around here, between you and me, happens to be YOU! And talking about someone who is utterly and completely delusional.......that would be you, as well.

The vast majority of FREEPERS take one look at your posts and wonder how anyone could be that confused/delusional/uneducated.

I understand and know just WHO Reagan was, what he REALLY did and what he REALLY said, far more than you ever shall.

Speaking of the BIG O...I was at a women's retreat this week. (I know, I know). ANYWAY, the 2008 Presidential question came up. I asked one of the women, an art professor, who she would like to see as our next President. The following is pretty much, verbatim, how this conversation went:

Me: Who would you like to see as our next president?
her: Uhmm...that guy...Ba...bara...O...
Me: Barack Obama?
Her: That's it.
Me: You support someone whose name you don't know?
Her: (silent).
Me: What about him do you like?
Her: He seems to be very inclusive.
Me: What does that mean?
Her: (Silent).
Me: Out of curiousity, what exactly has he done that convinces you that he would be successful as the leader of the free world?
Her: Well, I don't really know what he's done.
Me: Don't you think that would be something you'd want to do?
Her: (silent)

Right. Nothing new to offer. Standard ad hominem responses. That is your MO.

>>>>I understand and know just WHO Reagan was ...

You know NOTHING about Ronald Reagan and you know NOTHING about conservatism either! You've been proving that since Oct 31 1998! You're starved for attention. What you do to get attention from FReepers, is to throw out some of the most confusing, ignorant and juvenile posts I've seen in the 10 year history of FR. Whats really sad and pathetic is, you really believe you on the cutting edge of politics. In reality, you're on the cutting edge of nothing.

That projection complex of yours has now reached such a high degree, that I am growing worried about your mental health; seriously, I am. Please get help.

Not only do I know a very great deal about Ronald Reagan, I worked extremely hard to get him elected president...TWICE! I also went to both inaugurals. Did you? And though I rarely, if ever engage in name dropping or braggadocio, I'll relent for the nonce. Pssssssssssssst...I actually knew Nancy and worked with her on several occasions, in close, personal proximity, on a venture that had NOTHING whatsoever to do with politics. And yes, she and I did engage in a number of long chats about the venture, herself, politics, etc.!

You disgrace the man's memory, by using at part of your nic and this is something that many FREEPERS have told you, through the years. You are a fraud, a fraud who does nothing but try to tear others down, impugn them, and in doing so, you only make yourself look bad.

Be careful of your statement-- NYCity remains one of the few cities in America to have a city income tax!

A very cursory search on Google found for the state of Michigan the following cities with city incoome taxes--

Albion, Battle Creek, Big Rapids, Flint, Grayling, Hamtramck, Hudson, Ionia, Jackson, Lansing, Lapeer, Muskegon, Muskegon Heights, Pontiac, Port Huron, Portland, Springfield and Walker.

While I will be the first to admit these towns/cities are not huge in the sense of NYC, it does prove that your statement was dreadfully incorrect.(In other words wrong)

Now, if I had the time or cared I would do a search for the entire country, fortunately I have more important things to concern myself with. Your statement has been manufactured out of thin air.

Frustrating. So many voters are like this ... they like the candidate's hair, or something else stupid.

How many women will vote for Hillary just because she's a woman?
