Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) continues to hold a narrow lead over Senator Hillary Clinton (D) and former Vice President Al Gore (D) in early Election 2008 polling.
Giuliani leads Clinton 47% to 43% in the latest poll. That’s very similar to the 48% to 43% lead he enjoyed in late November. When matched against Gore, Giuliani now leads 46% to 43%. In November, he also enjoyed a three-point lead over the Democrats’ Election 2000 candidate.
Against either Democrat, Giuliani leads among men but trails among women. The two Democrats lead among voters under 30, but trail among other age groups.
Gore is now viewed favorably by 50% of Americans and unfavorably by 49%. That’s a bit better than in earlier surveys. For Clinton, the numbers are now 48% favorable and 50% unfavorable, a bit weaker than the last time we checked.
Neither Democrat comes close to Giuliani on the favorability scale. The man sometimes known as “America’s Mayor” is viewed favorably by seven out of ten Americans (71%).
Giuliani also does well in Republican primary polling. In fact, he is the top candidate in the early going. John McCain is second. McCain also leads Clinton and Gore in Election 2008 match-ups. In fact, Giuliani and McCain are ahead in every match-up no matter what Democrat we mention.
On the Democratic side, Clinton is the clear frontrunner. Gore has not made it clear whether he intends to run.
Check out the favorability ratings for all Republican candidates, Democratic candidates, Congressional Leaders and other Political leaders.
Sorry. The last time I looked Free Republic was still a conservative website. Freepers support conservatism and oppose liberalism. My political playbook contains conservative candidates and a conservative policy agenda for America's future. If you support Rudy, you're either a liberal, or you've thrown away any conservative principles you may have had in the name of political expediancy. Either way, supporting Rudy is supporting liberalism.
There is no difference between Rudy, Hillary, Algore and Obama. Their all liberals. I don't care if Rudy is a Republican. He's a liberal and a RINO too boot.
If you support Rudy, you're either a liberal, or you've thrown away any conservative principles you may have ...blah...blah...
I could say the same about W.
Rudy may be a social liberal, but he is a law enforcement guy. If, as he has said, he likes judges like Scalia and Alito, he would appoint similar candidates to the federal bench. America needs a leader at this critical time in our history who can explain to the American people how important it is that we win this war against Islamofacism. If we do not, the social issues that are so dear to all of us conservatives become irrelevant when faced with the prospect of living under Sharia law.
How stupid can you get? I know more about the Treason Media's schemes than you ever will. Mainpulating knee-jerk "conservatives" is their favorite sport and I imagine has always been successful with you.
How dumb does one have to be not to know that Guiliani and McCain are the front runners or to believe that any of the 1%ers people like you claim to support have ANY chance of nomination?
Well that's your opinion and you are wrong about me and the other Freepers. But anyway - Merry Christmas to you.
You can? Hmmm.
If nothing else Bush is a social conservative. The problem is Bush is also a liberal on domestic policy. The last six years has really been a Jekyll and Hyde Presidency. OTOH, Rudy is a full fledged liberal. No doubt about it.
The same thing was said in 1999 about President Bush, by many of the same people.
They're liberals who'd rather not have a 737 come crashing through their office window. Oh yeah, and they like getting a bigger paycheck, so they're cool with tax cuts.
Other than that, they have nothing but utter contempt for everything the Republican party is supposed to stand for. And here they are, trying to take over.
And a Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Rudy is a tax cutter and also a government cutter. He is a staunch warriors for the WOT.
Bwahahahahaha!!!!!
Bluster and band-wagon politics are of little interest to me ... But have fun chasing the rabbits. You're babbling about those two dolts because the MSM dragged them out in front of you. You might ask yourself why the MSM and professional pollsters want you to be thinking about them. Gibbering about them. Creating 'buzz' for them.
Or not.
G'bye.
OMG you are right!!! No one ever heard of these people until Rasmussen and such started running polls. Until then we all believed Tom Tancredo was CERTAIN to be the nominee and next president.
There is no question as to why polls like this are run. People like to speculate about such things. You can't stay away from them yet blast me for looking at them too. What a hypocrite.
Other than that, they have nothing but utter contempt for everything the Republican party is supposed to stand for. And here they are, trying to take over.
What the heck does 9/11 have to do with this? I saw the whole thing happen thru my office window in NYC on that day while posting on Free Republic as well as every other Freeper here in one way or another. This has nothing to do with our being conservative or not.
Most Conservatives like tax cuts ya know.
As far as trying to take over - Ummm I don't think so. If you look on this forum most of the threads ARE NOT Rudy threads but you guys seem to like them.
Rudy was a federal prosecutor and he did his job in that capacity. Crime rates came down while Rudy was Mayor and he deserves credit for that. Crimes rates also came down under Mayor Dinkins, and are lower today under Mayor Bloomberg then they were under Mayor Giuliani. That doesn't mean conservatives will run out and vote for Dinkins or Bloomberg, anymore then they'd vote for Giulinai.
>>>>>If, as he has said, he likes judges like Scalia and Alito, he would appoint similar candidates to the federal bench.
Rudy also said that Ruth Bader Ginsberg is his type of justice too.
COLMES: Now, Roe vs. Wade -- You are pro-choice. How important is it to you as a pro-choice Republican to have a pro-choice on the court as someone...
GIULIANI: That is not the critical factor. And what's important to me is to have a very intelligent, very honest, very good lawyer on the court. And he fits that category, in the same way Justice Ginsburg fit that category.
In this answer, Rudy offers his criteria for a good SCOTUS justice. 1. "very intelligent" 2."very honest" 3. "very good lawyer". It's Rudy`s opinion that both CJ Roberts and J Ginsburg fit into that category. Frankly, I'm convinced that Giuliani would be more satisfied with a Lawrence Tribe or a George Mitchell on the SC, then a Constitutional conservative like Antonin Scalia or Clarence Thomas.
>>>>America needs a leader at this critical time in our history ...
Agreed. America needs conservative leadership, not liberal leadership.
The positive resluts for Julie-Annie indicates to me that the sampling took place at San Francisco Bathouses, The Midtown Planned Parenthood Clinic, and outside any family court in the country.
When I was polled about my preference in a race between Cthulhu, Julie-Annie, and McAniac my response was "Prayer".
What does 9/11 have to do with Giuliani's candidacy? Besides everything, nothing at all.
Only the brainless laugh at the truth. They can't comprehend the obvious. There is no difference between a liberal Democrat and a liberal Republican. Rudy is a Rockefeller Republican to his core values and beliefs. The slogan Rockefeller Republican is the 1960`s/1970`s catch phrase for liberal Republican. Rudy is a huge fan of the late NYState Senator Jacob Javits, the late NYCity Mayor John Lindsey and the godfather of Rockefeller Republicanism, the late Governor of NYState, Nelsen Rockefeller himself.
>>>>Rudy is a tax cutter and also a government cutter. He is a staunch warriors for the WOT.
Like Dubya, Rudy is a big government Republican. He will spend the taxpayers money just like any liberal and expand the federal bureaucracy in the process. Rudy`s major tax cut was to remove the 12.5% surcharge on the NYCity income taxes paid by high earners. NYCity remains one of the few cities in America to have a city income tax!
As the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research said:
"Even with the tax cuts of the last several years, New York remains by far the most heavily taxed big city in the country." Btw, the Manhattan Institute is a NY based political think tank that has been very favorable to Giuliani during his time served as Mayor.
