I've owned and used a Garmin GPS V for many years. Those Garmin Christmas commericals, the ones set to Ring, Christmas Bells, are pretty good :)

And don't stop to give aid to victims of a traffic accident either. Don't be a Good Samaritan.
When the police arrives you will be considered a witness to the accident and they'll throw your donkey in the slammer until the day of the trial. Very enlightened society.
We really need more of those guys here, and we will. Long live diversity!

I know this is a serious subject, but did anyone else flash on Monty Python when reading the lead paragraphs? "Mr. Reginald Tootworthy of Mon Repose, Billington, Hants., took the Wrong Turn and discovered an unexpected artillery test range in his neighbor's yard. Mr. Josephus Braddington-Hausbawker of Ashbury Minora, Bucks, while searching for his cat took the Wrong Turn and was processed into 137 pounds of mince. Today we will learn how to avoid taking the Wrong Turn...."

The GPS V has a decent map internally. I purchased it because it could use an external mag mount antenna and external 12 VDC for extended use in a car. The portable antenna and batteries are fine for short walks. The new generation does a much better job with turn by turn instructions including voice synthesis. Color displays are nice. The connection to car power is imperative if you want to run it for hours and especially at night when the panel illumination is required.
