This creeping insanity has nothing to do with "separation of church and state" - it is about the elevation of petty personal grievances over a sense of community that used to define the uniqueness of America.
As a Jew, I never recall even THINKING about feeling "disincluded" when I saw crèches in public places. Rather, I felt warm and welcoming of my Christian neighbors, and tried to share in the joy they felt for the season which occasioned such displays. I felt then and feel now that free expressions of honest religious faith - especially those given in the spirit of love, peace and charity to all - should be welcome, as many of my neighors greeted the appearance of menorahs in other public locales.
I am disgusted and dismayed at what is happenening to our nation. With tears in my eyes at this moment, to my Christian friends here at FR, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, from the bottom of my heart.

As a Christian, I'm with YOU!

Well put Andy,
As I left Wal Mart today the cashier said "Merry Christmas" and I replied "Happy Hanukkah, and a Merry Christmas to you" to which she replied "Happy Hanukkah"
On December 24 and 25, I shall volunteer to work so my Christian friends can be with their families. As a yid I observe Hanukkah, as an American I understand and enjoy the spirit of Christmas.
This crap being fought out in the courts over seperation of church and state is meaningless. Unless you are profiting as a member of the ACLU
To all of you out there. Hanukkah is half over/half left. Christmas is approaching. May you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Andy, that was very well said...
I doubt that the crap that has taken place over the last 10 years is just that, political crap, and has nothing to do with religion.
I grew up in Memphis in the Episcopal church, and had many Jewish friends as a kid. My father was district manager for a large NY clothing company, owned by Jews.
There was never such animosity as there is today.
Christmas was what it is, CHRISTmas, and everyone got along just fine.
We went door to door, singing Christmas carols, and the Jewish families enjoyed them as much as anyone. I do, however, remember asking my parents why all the Jewish Christmas cards said "Seasons Greetings", haha.
To you and your family, Merry Christmas, and Seasons Greetings.
