LOS ANGELES - A one-month-old baby has been checked and cleared by a Los Angeles hospital after being put through an airport X-ray machine.
Authorities at Los Angeles International Airport say an inexperienced traveler mistakenly put her grandson through a carry-on luggage screener.
A startled security worker noticed the shape of a child and immediately pulled the baby out.
A spokesman for LAX says the incident Saturday was an innocent mistake.
In 1988, an infant in a car seat went through an X-ray machine at the airport.

AKA: idiot
She put the 1 month old baby in the bin.
...and exactly what were the screeners doing while Junior was enjoying his little radiation treatment????
NOBODY? watches bags going INTO the machine?
Not usually, in my experience.
They don't mention what the health risks are to this baby. That's a question begging to be asked.
What is the general freeper appraisal of the average intelligence of the screeners they hire?
My own experience is that they're barely smart enough to draw breath. I also don't think any of them were born in the USA.
Thoughts?
I read one report that said that the grandmother could not understand English. I don't think that has anything to do with it. I don't think she understands COMMON SENSE.
Note to AP:
And.....Did the child who went through the x ray machine in 1988 suffer any long term effects? The Doctors have had 18 years to follow this.
Guess which language she speaks.
I respectfully beg to differ. If they are alert enough to remaind you that you forgot to put your shoes in the bin, then they sure as heck should be expected to be alert enough to know when a child is about to pass through.
Just think about it, that baby was old enough to vote in last month's elections.
I've never had to put my shoes in the bin. And in the airports I fly through, the screeners stand on the gate side of the metal detector. So not only aren't they close to the belt, they can't even see it.
Sure not as horrible as a mother putting her own baby in the microwave and runnig it. Yes, the baby died. Happened in Dayton, OH very recently. Lucky for her I'm not God. The LAX incident was probably just a very bad mistake but two people minimum had to mess up to have that happen. The grandma and the checker. The checker stories almost always involve a little ole grandma. Maybe there is a message there. Ya think?
They were looking for "explosive diaherea".
Oh boy! A bomb with an X-ray sensitive trigger? What next?
Britney Spears?
