From all of what I've heard in this non-stop coverage is NO. They go on their merry way and taxpayers foot the bill for their screw ups.
That 'may' have been okay in 1940 when a rescue was impossible due to lack of technology (like no Helicopters), but not in today's world.
What they did was irresponsible.

OK, I'm so tired of reading the ignorance on these Mt.Hood threads. If any of you would bother reading more than the headline, you will see that the rescuers are volunteer...not paid. The air support is most often used as training, so the cost to us, the taxpayers, is really not as much as you think. Do some reading, then get back to us
Sheesh, with my three year old, at least I only have to tell him once.
