Vote recount by hand begins in Chesco (PA House control could flip back to GOP)
Philadelphia Inquirer ^

Despite a last-minute attempt to stop it, the manual recount of more than 23,000 votes cast in a critical Chester County statehouse race begins this morning.

With control of the state House of Representatives at stake, Democrats yesterday filed an appeal in Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court to stop the hand retallying.

The Democrats sought a machine-driven recount, arguing the manual recount could drag out and leave the West Chester area without a state representative when the legislature reconvenes Jan. 2. That would deny voters a voice in determining the next Speaker of the House, they said.

But the appeal was quickly quashed in an order signed by President Judge James Gardner Colins, who addressed the Democrats' concerns by ordering the Department of Voter Services to conduct and complete a hand recount no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 26.

Earlier this week, the head of Voter Services, Linda Cummings, estimated that a machine recount would take at least six days - which Democrats disputed - and that a hand recount would require seven to 10.

Only 23 votes separate Democratic frontrunner Barbara McIlvaine Smith from Republican Shannon Royer, a difference of one-tenth of 1 percent. Whichever candidate wins the 156th district seat will give his or her party a 102-101 edge in the House.

Interesting stuff. I thought this race was closed, but apparently we still have a chance to hold control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. It's 102-101 for either party, depending on the outcome of this recount.

Since the Dems refuse to stop until every recount possibility is exhausted, why shouldn't we?

I grew up in PA. My life long friend is a liberal and a state employee. He complains that everyone is loosing their jobs. I keep telling him that the Dems have driven all the business out.

A lot of us see what's going on and fight against it when we can. Unfortunately, the deck is stacked against because Philly, Pittsburgh, and Reading are full of voters who only vote one way (multiple times).

It can be depressing at times but we'll keep plugging away.

Exactly.

The only way to beat these bottom-feeding scum suckers is with their own tactics - in Spades.

When the recount is over, I hope PA is once again part of real America.

In the beauty of Pennsylvania lives such worthless liberalism.

Sadder yet is the fact that we're still waiting, six years now, for the DoJ to make a substantive move to combat voter fraud.

The ruling class will have its way.

It is always nice but sad to come up and visit. I loved living there but the jobs left after Carter's economy.

So the dems are fighting against counting every vote.

Hilarious example of their hipocracy!

A pox on them all.

Some districts in Pennsylvania, particular in the inner city areas have 110% voter participation.

They have this magic system, whereby you get to vote without even registering or going to the polls. You can even be dead and still vote.

Since the Dems refuse to stop until every recount possibility is exhausted, why shouldn't we?

Why is it the Dems who always come up with MORE votes in a recount?

Methinks something is smelling fishy with our recount process.

Me also thinks that Democraps are so zealous they would do just about anything to "magically" generate more votes during a recount, and during a regular election for that matter.

(This last comment comes from experienced at having volunteered in an '06 Congressional campaign for a Republican. Our campaign signs were stolen, torched, sliced up, and our door literature was stolen. My car was pelted with ? rocks as I put out roadside campaign signs, etc)

There is NO hypocrisy to the Democrats' methods and words. Democrats believe that anything that promotes their power is Good, Right, and True. and anything that detracts from their power is Evil, Wrong, and a Lie. It would be hypocritical for a Democrat to say that a Republican won an election fairly. If a Republican wins then there was cheating and vote-stealing because that is the definition of a Republican win.
