Tonight Al Franken ate chow in the Camp Victory DFAC (dining facility) and sat down with the troops. One of my coworkers (an Army Major) sat with him and listened to the conversation between Al and his handlers(?) as they ticked off negative aspects of us being here.

Finally, Major Patience (not his real name, but he sure displayed some) asked these obviously educated folks to name one positive thing we've done that they had heard of. They couldn't name one item.

They then confronted him by asking how he could feel good about being here when we were sent based on lies, the goals were always changing, none of the Iraqis want us here, our friends are being maimed and dying, we are commiting crimes and atrocities, bla bla bla. And then they asked him how he felt about us losing the war like we are.

For those that miss them, SandRat posts many positive stories each day from the military news sources. These are the stories about schools being opened, hospitals built, power or services being restored or improved, successful Iraqi Army operations and events--the items you never see reported by AP, Reuters, ABC, CBS, CNN et al. SandRat finds these stories regularly, so why can't even a poor investigative reporter. Al Franken works for AirAmerica, a huge radio network that regularly covers serious news stories in an unbiased manner (major sarcasm) so he should know of these happenings. But he remains ignorant.

Sorry for the vanity, and I am also sorry if it ended up a rant. I have been angry for over 2 hours regarding this and just wanted to get it off my chest.

No apologies necessary from you. Rant all you like. We're here to listen. If it was up to us, Frankenfraud wouldn't be anywhere near your base making it seem that he gives a rip. It's just one more Lefty ploy (support the troops not the war). I'm going to call USO in the morning. In-the-meantime, let all your buddies know that WE support you, and WE means alot of people coast to coast!

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year
to America's Finest!

President Bush also offered an explanation of his statement yesterday that the United States is neither winning nor losing in Iraq.

The remark, in a Washington Post interview, was in stark contrast to his comments at an October news conference, in which he said that the U.S. is "absolutely winning" in Iraq.

The president told reporters Wednesday that his earlier comments were simply a reflection of his belief that "we're going to win." The president says his comments Tuesday reflected that "we're not succeeding nearly as fast" as he had wanted.

"However you characterize it, it's not good enough," Gates told the soldiers about America's progress in the war.
