Perez was removed as guardian Oct. 31, 2005, based on a recommendation from Adult Protective Services, following reports that he was not taking proper care of her. She allegedly wasn't getting her medications, and their home was filthy and ill-equipped, Latella said.

George Heitmanis was appointed guardian by Macomb County Probate Judge Gilbert O'Sullivan, and the woman was placed in the nursing home.

It sounds like it wasn't the husband that was guilty of kidnapping.

Ordering a housekeeping service to visit twice weekly would have been a better approach for the "authorities". (I let the laundry go when my kids are sick, too.)
