Someone needs to start a rumor that Nifong is a closet Republican. If that started he'd get crucified for what he's done. The Democrats don't care and the Republicans don't have the stones to take this guy out.

It is unfortunate that prosectorial misconduct on this scale is not a capital crime. This DA should be put away for at least 20 years.

It is unfortunate that prosectorial misconduct on this scale is not a capital crime. The law definitely needs to be changed. No one should be above the law...not judges, prosecutors, or any other law enforcement officials. Nifong has exhibited criminal behavior and should put on trial.

If this stands and the boy's are found not guilty , some tough lawyer will pierce the Vail and sue the state , and this moron personally.

Nifong deserves to be removed from office and disbarred. At the very minimum!
Another great piece by Dr. Sowell. It is short and to the point but covered most everything.

Nigong's arrogance scares me. I hope in the year 2007, three white men cannot be convicted for a crime they never committed. Will the potential black jury vote payback when it comes time for a verdict? Scary.

This guy needs to be recalled.
If a republican tried to prosecute INNOCENT blacks for raping a black girl and he got caught just using it to drum up votes knowingly, could you begin to imagine the sanctimony and the sh!t storm that would follow.
The news cycle would be 3 weeks minimum, forget about the war, FORGET EVERYTHING, this would be the evidence they're looking for, we would have so much introspection and navel gazing - oh, and you can forget about the "healing process"

[Someone needs to start a rumor that Nifong is a closet Republican.]
Or someone should start a rumor that his scalp is worth 50 bucks.

Won't ever be a crime; couldn't get the likes of Tom DeLay if it were.

It's unfortunate that the Sowells of the world won't run for high office. Their egos don't require it. Their sense of decency doesn't want their family to be dragged through the mud by the media for every little mistake they may have made in the past. And, they make enough money to be satisfied, without resorting to the corruption to get more.
In other words, they're too damned smart.
And besides, they'd be crucified by the Mediots, for saying what they mean, and meaning what they say.

Indeed, they have not even been interviewed by the police or by the District Attorney... Even now? Unbelievable.
God bless Tom Sowell.

In these days of the Post-Enlightenment, when so many in the privileged Western World scorn morality, truth, liberty, and logic, we who are weary of the decadent, mendacious Left find solace in the words of a gentleman of truth, wisdom, and honor such as Thomas Sowell.

Veil. Pierce the veil.
Which is an odd figure of speech. Did you coin it?
Raise or draw back the veil, yes, but pierce it?
Pierce the veil...wasn't that Spinal Tap's album sequel to their smash hit with the similarly incongruous title, "Smell the glove"?

It comes from some court case involving corporations that were set up to basically commit or shield fraud.
"Piercing the corporate veil" was the terminology used in the decision.
(From an undergrad business law class I had way back when).
To: Atomic Vomit
Usually applies to piercing the corporate veil which means that the liability protection usually afforded to shareholders is pierced to allow lawsuits against the personal assets of shareholders. Usually happens when the shareholder is aware of the activity and/or facilitates the activity which is under litigation.
