Woman beaten on Jerusalem bus for refusing to move to rear seat

A woman who reported a vicious attack by an ad-hoc "modesty patrol" on a Jerusalem bus last month is now lining up support for her case and may be included in a petition to the High Court of Justice over the legality of sex-segregated buses. Miriam Shear says she was traveling to pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City early on November 24 when a group of ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) men attacked her for refusing to move to the back of the Egged No. 2 bus. She is now in touch with several legal advocacy and women's organizations, and at the same time, waiting for the police to apprehend her attackers. In her first interview since the incident, Shear says that on the bus three weeks ago, she was slapped, kicked, punched and pushed by a group of men who demanded that she sit in the back of the bus with the other women...

The nerve of this woman! And I bet she takes her time getting a beer from the fridge when her man snaps his finger! Oh how I hate these spoiled American women! Just the other day I witnessed something I shall never forget, this elderly man and woman were shopping at Home Depot when the man bought 500 cinder blocks to build a hut for his woman, and she actually refused to load the cinder blocks onto the truck saying they were "too heavy"? Can you imagine the gall? He actually had to expend this unnessecary energy to knock away her walker and force her to do her duty!

So it's ok with you if some citizens of the world are legally treated as second class citizens or as slaves in their own countries? Interesting. I guess you also think all cultures are equally valid and that customs like honor killings, female circumcision, slavery, and Sharia law should be respected?

I disagree. When it comes to human rights, I have no sympathy for local cultures whose customs cause human suffering. As a sovereign nation, Israel may continue to allow discrimination against non religious people of course, but they really have no excuse as a 21st century democracy, as ordinary human rights shouldn't even be an issue. If they persist in their discrimination it would be morally hypocritical to continue support for Israel with US tax dollars.

Incidentally, I like Israel, but like all socialist countries, they would be better off without outside financial support. It would force them to be less socialistic and more practical, so discontinued financial support might be a good thing. This is a separate issue.

Just wanted to drop you a line and I find your posts on this thread and in general to be an utter embarassment. It's a blight on this website that a loon like you hasn't been booted yet.
