When I first got married, my wife insisted that I put the seat down in our bathroom. My response has been to always put the lid and seat down. It takes the same amount of effort, it prevents stuff from accidentally falling in it, and it keeps the pets out of the bowl. My three sons and I always put the lids down. I wonder why the females in the house don't put the lids down when they are finished doint their business?

Good for you! I just wrote about this. It's very practical.

I don't know. Did you ever explain the supreme practicality of this? As a female they should have more to lose down that toilet than you! I always put down covers.
Good for you, I see it as being polite. I think well-mannered gentlemen (the kind that open doors for ladies and such) can take the little step of putting the seat and lid down when they are done with their business. No idea why the women don't, I surely do when I'm finished. I can't stand leaving the lid up... After all the "we'll pee on the seat" comments, yours is refreshing. Thanks.

The answer: BECAUSE THEY ARE NEVER FINISHED.
