Global Language Monitor, a nonprofit group that studies word usage, has chosen "macaca" as the most politically incorrect word of 2006, followed by "Global Warming Denier." "There are now proposals that ‘global warming deniers’ be treated the same as 'Holocaust deniers’: professional ostracism, belittlement, ridicule and, even, jail," the group's president, Paul JJ Payack, tells Reuters.

So much for freedom of speech.

The guy's comments are a bit oblique, but if you check the link in the original post and read the entire list of words/phrases, it is clearer that he does not approve of the usage "global warming denier." The first time I even learned that equating global warming and genocide/holocaust denial was taking place was a column Jeff Jacoby wrote in mid-October about free speech squelchers. This was one of the examples he gave.

The fact that the phrase made it on to this list shows it has become pervasive. But then, so predictable: the same people who care more about animal rights than the rights of the unborn will be the same people who go around using the phrase "global warming denier."
