He's on his third wife

He was most likely having an affair with her while he was still in the House. He probably was not outspoken about ex42's outrageous behavior because of his own.

He also left the House after paying several hundred thousand dollars because of an investigation that he just wanted to go away. I think that he had made some conservative (historically accurate) videotapes that could be used by people studying American history and was called on the carpet by the 'rats. He had been a college professor and these were not a phony make-money scheme, but the 'rats kept coming after him.

He is an idea man, but not a leader of men.

Sometimes even his ideas are not grounded in reality.

the enviro wackos are a huge problem and many folks on our side are afraid to go up against them, but common sense needs to prevail.

.

Sen. TED KENNEDY also gleefully stated today on 'FoX News Sunday' that he was looking forward to the upcoming Sen. CARL LEVIN Senate Committee Iraq War Hearings...

....duplicating the Sen. WILLIAM FULLBRIGHT Senate Committee Vietnam War Hearings. Hearings that were first held the week of my April 1966 return home from the 1st Major Battles of that War.

Hearings geared to try and stop a Free America's Fight for the Freedom of Others.

Make no mistake about it, Sen.TED KENNEDY is out to kill our new Fight for the Freedom of others, using TV Lies. A Freedom Fight that will succeed in making us more secure against future terrorist attacks here at home.

All one has to do now is ask Sen. TED KENNEDY...

..."WHY....?"

.

get out of the US Military's way. They studied Vietnam hard and actually have the right answers here.

I have to agree MNJohnnie. The military counterinsurgency appears to be working slowly and steadily to me. What worries me is the political equation. When will State/Justice get on board?

All one has to do now is ask Sen. TED KENNEDY... ..."WHY....?"

Teddy, a second generation criminal, is an appeaser to his core. He appeased communists; and the Islamofascists are, in his twisted head, no more of a threat than Hitler appeared to his grasping, unprepossessing, crooked father. Ted Kennedy is a perfect antidote for those who would contend that the Dim's power base has a shred of sense.

Yeah, like you actually believe that this idiot only wants a gay man somewhere in the movie. RIGHT! I'm disappointed that a Freeper could even think this off base. You have heard of Hollywood? You know, that far left liberal commie place in S. Calif.

the hungry children theme.

The food insecurity statistic is one of the most phony of all times. It is defined as something like not having a three day supply of food in the house at least once in the past year. For people who eat out a lot, this is no big deal. This is how obese people can be counted as "hungry" by those pushing an agenda.

You did read my entire post, didn't you? If so I think you really missed the point of the last part.

You're still in the Pacific Northwest, right? Or were you living elsewhere (Hawaii?) and only got back to the Northwest on occasion? Regardless of my faulty memory, if you are in the area affected by these recent storms (or have family there as I do) I hope all are well.

Merry Christmas.

I didn't see MTP...so I have to ask if you know in what context that Newt Gingrich feels that Obama needs to have a "national dialogue with the Republicans"???

I find that idea, that Mark said Newt posited, as totally out of left field, ludicrous, and my first thought is...why???

The transcript for todays MTP is here.  On the 3rd page they start talking about Obama with Gingrich, but the relevant portion isn't till the 4th page:
MR. RUSSERT: On the American solutions, is it possible to get liberal Democrats, conservative Republicans, to find common ground on Social Security as opposed to, “We want privatizing,” “We don’t need any changes”; on abortion: “It’s the taking of a life,” “It’s a woman’s choice”; on gay marriage: “It’s, it is something that’s immoral” or “It’s civil rights.” How do you find common ground on those issues?

FMR. REP. GINGRICH: Well, you’re—that is the great opportunity that Barack Obama’s describing. I mean, Obama gives, makes some superb speeches. I quoted him Friday night in Manchester from his speech the previous Friday night, I might say, to a bigger crowd. And—but I said, I said positively, he is talking to Americans. He’s talking about finding a way to come together. You know, and maybe it starts by saying, what is it we can agree on that we can work on together and then accept the fact that we’ll fight on these things.

But I—I think, for example, I would love to see hearings on what would a 21st-century State Department be like, and how big does it have to be so you have enough personnel to have training, and how much do you have to invest in order to have modern information technology? And, and, and I would be very happy to have Democratic committees holding those hearings. Because there’s a conversation as Americans we ought to be able to have in a positive way.

Similarly, I think the president should ask the Congress to hold hearings on the larger war. What does Ahmadinejad’s threats as the leader of Iran mean to America? What does it mean that the North Koreans have set off a nuclear weapon? What should we make out of the missile firings in North Korea and Iran? I think if the Congress started out here and then came in to say, OK, if this is the nature of reality, then here’s how we Americans can work together, I think by May or June you might see a totally different tone in this city. But real change requires real change.

MR. RUSSERT: And the president has to drive it.

FMR. REP. GINGRICH: No. The president has to be open to it because the American people have to drive it.

The part about Obama is "he is talking to Americans. He’s talking about finding a way to come together. You know, and maybe it starts by saying, what is it we can agree on that we can work on together and then accept the fact that we’ll fight on these things.

The part about a national dialog wasn't directly related to Obama, but was launched from there, talking about an American dialog amongst all Americans, starting perhaps with Congressional hearings on lots of topics, such as what our collective goal is in "the larger war. But real change requires real change."

Russert then challenges Newt that this is the President's responsibility and Newt replies:

FMR. REP. GINGRICH: No. The president has to be open to it because the American people have to drive it.

I like that.

I think that's what was being referenced.  I haven't read all of the transcript yet.

I will put in a request to get him to come to one of our Fundraising Dinners, and we will have a nice chat. I wish Rummy and General Garner would write a Book each or maybe several books. I respect them so much, they are really Manly, and give me confidence that we are safe with them around. He really enjoyed talking about his time in Iraq, and did not act bitter or petty about the way he was treated. He is thoroughly professional, but so down to Earth. I believe you are right on all points and of course we are not Military or State Department experts, but we know if it looks like a Duck and walks like a Duck, it is probably a Duck. In the case of Powell, and Armitage I think they are both backstabbing, two faced cockroaches that only care about their own egos, and status. Powell has been a huge disappointment recently, and he should just go away and do his funky Seminars. He is another fine example of someone who could have been President or anything he wanted to be because he had such promise, and backing of People in High places. I am beginning to think he was wheeling and dealing behind people's backs, and I even am beginning to question a whole lot of what he did over the last 6 years. You are right again about State and it's nasty control freak people.

Oh...okay, I agree with you on that.

I DID read the whole transcript with Newt...and JUST as I was reading it, Drudge was playing soundbites from it...LOL

First of all...I think Mark Kilmer got that part about Obama and the Lincoln-Douglas debates out of his own wished perhaps...because I didn't see it said as such.

However, what I read, and what I heard on the soundbites made me wanna HURL...I have never read such egotist pandering tripe....since a Bill O'Reilly script.

Newt is trying to make a whole new "position" in America...not the POTUS, not a dem, or a GOP...but a "bringer togetherer"....and is sounds totally Pollyannaish...on one hand, and on the other, it gives WAY too much credibility to the socialist left.

Newt is nutz.
