Man's ID theft linked to raids
Workers used his information in 3 different states
By Mike Baird Caller Times December 16, 2006
A former Landry's busboy is bucking Uncle Sam, who wants a cut of $75,790 earned by employees at three national meat processing companies using Steven De Leon Aumada's identification.
Aumada, 21, says he feels "skinned and filleted" after realizing he might be trapped in the web of worker deceit that led immigration officials to raid six Swift & Co. meat processing plants Tuesday in six states, according to officials. The Internal Revenue Service notified Aumada in July that he owed $19,998 in income taxes, penalties and interest for work reported in his name and Social Security number by Swift & Co. in Greeley, Colo., Tyson Fresh Meats Inc. in Springdale, Ark., and National Beef Packing Company LLC in Liberal, Kan.

Another example of why the GOP needs to take the fight against illegals to Hispanics at large. Because in ID theft, THEY are the victims. It is no wonder that 46% of Hispanics voted in favor of the anti-illegal Prop 200 in Arizona.
Lets lean on the union where I see a case for a RICO prosecution. Swift likely does not hire these people without union approval.

I would think that you could sue for pain and suffering for this illegal act..its obvious the company knew....as they fired 400 the day before the raid.....
I bet it will take some years for Aumada to get out from under the IRS's hammer and he will be forever flagged as "uncooperative". Government offices often seem much more concerned with revenge against people who point up bureaucratic mistakes than they are with making things correct.
Correct. Hispanics will usually be the victim of illegal alien ID theft. Do they even care? Many don't, is my take, because many are in on the scam and are 'renting out' their IDs
Agreed. Have heard the incessant drumbeat of "they're not document experts" as a defense.

"Swift likely does not hire these people without union approval."
The day after the raid in Greeley, Co. the local union rep was on the tube backed up by Hispanics with signs. He was defending the illegal workers with every breath. It finally made sense to me that the union leadership just want to keep their jobs and they don't care who the rank and file is.
I don't know of any Hispanics here that support illegals. No doubt there are some, just not very vocal.
"Steven De Leon Aumada will most likely get a lot rougher treatment, trying to straighten this out with the IRS, than the three felon's using his ID."
There was a lady from Denver on the radio here a little while back that was in the same situation. The Denver PD gave her some help tracking the person down but the Feds didn't want to hear about it. They just wanted her to pay up.
Everyone will point the finger at the fed IF and when any charges are brought.

The IRS (two different offices) hounded me and my wife for two years of wage taxes for her father. We tried explaining the situation to them but they really didn't care. The funny thing was that her father had died two years before the years they wanted the taxes for but as she was the executrix of the estate they were dunning us as they couldn't find him.
Local butcher shop AND local cattle. ;)
They will get a slap on the wrist, a free ride to the border, and be back YEARS before this kid ever gets his ID straitened out.
If he EVER gets it straight! How many "new" ones will begin using it next week?
