We're Going to Win
Weekly Standard ^ | December 25, 2006 | Fred Barnes

One guest who shook hands with Bush in the receiving line told him, "Don't let the bastards get you down." Bush, slightly startled but cheerful, replied, "Don't worry. I'm not." The guest followed up: "I think we can win in Iraq." The president's reply was emphatic: "We're going to win."

If you want an interesting Christmas Day, fast today and come with me to my uncle's place in Thousand Oaks tomorrow. Feed like a wart-hog and play poker with my 6 cousins later:) That's the fun part. Jesus is very welcome to pop in and tell me what to do:):):)

The whole "70 virgins" bit strikes me as a special case of "be careful what you wish for." Imagine the look in a terrorist's face when each of his 70 looks like Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Turns out that the young Arab hotties he hoped for were raped by Arab men -- and then were stoned to death for failing to defend themselves.

Ain't Karma a bitch?

Hi Alia! It was OK. I lost 14 bucks. I made some mistakes. The game I haven't lost at is craps, because you really have to think about 9 things at the same time. I may go there just to challenge myself. The Belaggio has 60 different kinds of food for breakfast. I always eat the most expensive-looking stuff:)

Did you have a good time? Want to go to Vegas? You have to wake up at 4 AM so we can have breakfast at that diner in Mojave that's on the left side of the 58. From there we ramp up to 90 MPH heading east.

You are so kind to invite me! I used to do Reno about once a year; blackjack was my game. I never got the hang of craps; it's probably why I would win and leave the table immediately. lol. I'm with ya big time on the buffets and ESPECIALLY for breakfasts.

Christmas Eve was at an event with some folks who'd gone to Vegas (from NC) for the first time. They have already planned their return trip!

I've never been to Vegas. Nope, not in all the years I was in CA. I'd scoot up to Tahoe, hit the Casinos in Reno, snow/water ski (in the past, pre-regulations).

You lost 14 bucks. Dang, you did good, spread your funds well for the duration. $14 buck loss for the time there is no loss at all.

What is the name of this diner, please? Is one of their specialties - split pea soup? I've heard from all kinds of LA pals about the trek to Vegas and hitting some diner which serves outstanding food, and lots. Folks raving about their Split Pea Soup.

I can't remember the name, sweetheart:):) You just go north on the 14 and go east on the 58. It's right there on the left side. There is a gas station on the corner next to it. That's Mojave. The gal that owns the place makes a killer dish of home fries with onions and peppers, pancakes with honey syrup and an egg omelet with ham. After a few cups of coffee, my slip-streamed F-250 gets going. Want to have some fun with me?:):):)

chuckling.. you sound like a fun guy, BobS. :) I don't think I'll be making that trek to Vegas anytime soon, tho. Thanks for the invite!

I remembered the name of the place -- "Anderson's" - no where near the Mojave.

Home fries with onions and peppers - Yum! Not exactly a long-drive food, however. Better for walkin'. lol.

For gambling? A long ride at 90 mph?
