Thank God I wasn't eligible to vote in 1976, I would have voted for Carter, of course then I really didn't know the difference between Republicans and Democrats. And Ford ticked me off with his "Soviets don't dominate Poland" statement in the debates.

LOL I'm glad I wasn't eligible to vote either! But I'm happy to say that I traded that last name (maiden name) for a new name that matches two former presidents who were at least conservative and Republican.

But I at least knew the difference between a Republican and a Democrat. My grandfather told me that Democrats are the ones that created canned biscuits and all the other evils in the world.

I was way too young to vote in '76, but the gaffe about Poland probably cost him the election against Jimmuh...

I won't deny he was a Rockefeller Republican, but he is a good man, and served honorably. God Bless You, Gerry...

I was only 16 when Carter won over Ford, and I never will forget that night. I watched the victory celbration and thought it was like watching the beginnings of a disaster unfolding.
