When the nuclear-obsessed North Korean government got angry about the pro-American antics of John Bolton, they threw a temper tantrum during which they called Mr. Bolton "human scum." The derisive remark about Bolton was way off the mark; John Bolton has been one of the world's greatest champions for freedom and liberty.
In this world of zany dictators, murderous tyrants and terrorists, we could hold a pageant to search for the best contenders for who should wear the banner representing "human scum." But Jimmy Carter beats them out and deserves to have the crown all to himself.
This week saw new charges of lying, plagiarism and anti-Semitism directed toward Carter for a new book he's authored. These latest missteps reinforced what many of us have long known: Jimmy Carter is a bitter man who has recklessly celebrated tyranny, given cover to our enemies and undermined the forces of liberty.
No other prominent American has so often pursued appeasement and kinder treatment of the agents of evil: the communist Soviet bloc, the crack-pot communist regime in North Korea, the murderous communist regime in Cuba, Islamic radicals in Iran, Palestinian suicide sponsors, Islamic terrorist groups in the Middle East and Hugo Chavez's Marxist regime in Venezuela to name a few.
Not once has Carter's "be kind to the murderous forces of tyranny" approach brought about peace or harmony for the world's people. Instead he has undermined the standing of free nations in their efforts to spread the light of freedom and democracy throughout the world.
As reported last year, Carter embraced one of Saddam Hussein's Iraqi intelligence agents involved in the United Nation's oil-for-food scam, prior to the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Jimmy Carter has long been dogged by charges of an anti-Israel bias, but now the former peanut brain .....

Carter is proving time and again that he did not have the mettle to even gather up the dust from around the desk of the presidency. A former Georgian, I knew much about this dirtbag when he was the governor of my birth state and I learned a lot more from men who once knew him when I went in the Navy's submarine service in the late 60s. His election to the nation's highest office was a fluke that was result of a post-Watergate malaise' by the electorate. He proved to be the most incompetent chief executive of the 20th Century and ranks only above Filmore, Pierce, Buchanan and Harding as the worst in history (Clinton and Nixon follow in order), IMHO. He is as capricious as the wind in coming in office (in 1977) as a "conservative Democrat" but shedding that label for liberal political gain and creating government monsters such as the Energy Department. His neglect of the American military is much of the reason the country has lost much of its respect in today's world and his conduct in post-Shah-Iran borders on criminal--it is much of the reason for Islamic extremism.
I believe Carter is now an apologist for the Holocaust and very much responsible for the Jew-hating antisemitism in the Middle East.
I do not believe he has much longer on this earth and I won't be offering condolences on FR when he finally succums--hopefully it will be in 2007 so he can join his buddy Fidel Castro whom I hear is on his last legs--and I plan to remind each and every one of you bleeding hearts who post sympathy for him that he deserves none if I see any!

when he messes up, he just continues to re-invent himself. His nobel prize was a slap to all Americans.

Did you read the column or did you just respond to the title. I think Melanie did an excellent job backing up her point.

when he messes up, he just continues to re-invent himself. His nobel prize was a slap to all Americans. The "nobel peace prize" has become a joke because of having been meted out to the likes of carter and arafat.

when he messes up, he just continues to re-invent himself. His nobel prize was a slap to all Americans. His Nobel Prize was a travesty to Alfred Nobel. When Theodore Roosevelt won it, it was for settling the Russo-Japanese War of 1903 and he hardly expected that he would get it...Carter, OTOH, openly campaigned for it, begged for it, scraped and bowed for it. When he won it four years ago there were at least 1,000 more deserving people who deserved it--Pope John Paul II, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, Billy Graham, Bill Gates among them.
However, seeing how the prize has in the last three decades gone to persons such as Yassar Arafat, Koffi Annan and Le Duc Tho, Carter's sullied name on the prize isn't too surprising to me (Nobel must be spinning in his grave in knowing who the selection committee is now picking--Castro, Chavez, Saddam or Bin Laden might be this year's winner, who knows).
