If I understand you correctly, it's probably not workable.
If A posts, and B and C reply, and A, D, and E reply to B, while F replies to C, what is it you want to see?
If A posts, and B and C reply, and A, D, and E reply to B, while F replies to C, what is it you want to see?
All of those, in order....just as "View Replies" does.
Like:
0) Post
1) A to 0 Agreed!
2) b to 1 Wrong!
3) c to 1 Right!
4) A to 2 Maybe.
5) x to 0 Bush's Fault!
6) Y to 2 I like butter!
7) D to 2 Uh uh
8) E to 2 Yeah
9) f to 3 wow.
View All Replies on Post 1 would give:
1) A to 0 Agreed!
2) b to 1 Wrong!
3) c to 1 Right!
4) A to 2 Maybe.
6) Y to 2 Magnificent Bustard!
7) D to 2 Uh uh
8) E to 2 Yeah
9) f to 3 wow.
View all replies on 2 would give:
2) b to 1 Wrong!
4) A to 2 Maybe.
6) Y to 2 I like butter!
7) D to 2 Uh uh
8) E to 2 Yeah
9) f to 3 wow.

The point is, if you get two pages into a thread, some people are still responding to the original post, and some are off on a tangent. If you want to focus on that particular tangent, it would be easier to read that "sub-thread" with a view all button.
Instead, you're likely to miss many subsequent sub-thread posts toward the very end (Post # 1,498) that you haven't been able to navigate to yet.
If A posts, and B and C reply, and A, D, and E reply to B, while F replies to C, what is it you want to see? I want to see A, B, C, D, E and F in my office and get this resolved so they can get their asses back to work.
