you don't even have to hike very far in some parts of the Olympics to get to such places.

Did you make out okay? I lost a big fir and three smaller trees, but no damage to the house. We just got power back about an hour ago! Woohoo! They were telling us it may not get restored until Sunday, so I'm pretty thrilled about that! :) Got a big clean up to do, like everyone else though. Yuck!

Actually, the storm entirely bypassed Grants Pass!

I woke up to beautiful, sunny skies, snow in the local mountains (NOT on the valley floor, as they had promised!) and it felt like Spring!

I should have know...the weather forecasting is so bad here that you can almost guarentee that they will be wrong half the time.

Boy, the rest of the state up north was sure pelted, though!

That means those Surrender Monkeys will hold their disgusting "Peace" rally in front of the Josephine County Courthouse on Sunday, the weather is sure cooperating with them.

I used to backpack the Ho in the Olympics, and I remember one time the local radio said "There is zero chance of rain in the Ho Valley today," well, since I was going to go on a two-day backpack, and it ALWAYS rains in the Ho, I was suspicious, and resolved to take my rain gear anyway.

Well, I talked to a local ranger, and he said "I've seen the weather reports, and I GUARENTEE you that it will not rain in the HO for the next two days," so...I kept my rain gear home.

Then, an hour into my hike, it starts pouring, absolutely drenching me in that rain-forest kind of way the Ho is famous for!

I never believe weather reports!

I happened to hike in the Ho River Valley on a lovely, sunny summer day. It was lush, beautiful, and richly fragrant. I hope you can go back there and see it on a sun storm day. Sorry you got drenched.

I'm glad you were spared. It was a "blast" alright!
As for the surrender monkeys....I guess it gives the poor slobs something to do, doesn't it? :) Take care!

I'm ALIVE!!!!

And doin fine, the problem was yesterday about noon I called some people at work. When I woke up a bit later, the phone was out!

Even in the 1993 Inaugeral day storm, the phone stayed on.

I shut down my generator about 7 this evening, my house was about 68 at the time (I have a pellet stove, not quite big enough to heat the whole house, but ok if I close off the rooms I'm not using).

House is now 58 so I gotta start it again.

Good to hear ya made it through ok.

Just turned on Fox12 news and a tranformer blew up in Beaverton so that is pretty big fire. No injuries.

Veronia and Canon Beach still without power....

The 3 guys are still missing up on the Mt.

Some guys decided to take their catamaran out on the ocean just north of us and they are gone.

Those who are not familiar with are rugged coast waters should heed warnings to stay off the beaches during storms. The ocean tosses around huge logs like toothpicks and those are deadly when a sneaker wave comes up.

Seattle got hit really hard.
Black ice on 22 east of Salem is causing accidents.

Sounds like those of us who are able to stay home are enjoying the quiet and no hustle bustle of daily life.

Hope all the PNW Freepers are doing as well. GLobal

I'm finally back online!

Power went out here at 5:00 PM Thursday. It just came back on at 2:20 AM Sunday.

That was a heck of a storm! Fortunately, we didn't get any trees on our house, although one pretty good size branch fell on the roof.

Watching those 150 ft. trees getting blown around is a little scary.
