How can it be Global Warming when its only a regional record??
Shouldn't it be the hottest year on the planet since 1475 for it to be global warming?

For reasons that are not understood, the northern hemisphere has warmed more than the southern. Maybe because it has so much more land area to absorb sunlight?

Yeah, and we're all still here after a "Global Warming" in the earth's past. Who knows how many we have survived. The whole issue of humans having ANYTHING to do with the earth "getting warmer," other than just breathing and excreting, is arrogant beyond belief.

This is an example of measuring micro climate which is dramatically affected by urbanization. The data does absolutely nothing to either confirm or disprove the theory that the earth is getting warmer.

The morons who wrote this story had a misleading title. In the article, no where does it say that 1659 was a hot year. If you look at the graph at the original article you will see that it is not even in the top 10.

Let's see, according to the latest science, the Medieval warming period was promptly followed by the "Little Ice age", which caused the Black Plague, Biblical Famine, and the near collapse of European Civilization.......

Their new muslim masters prefer warm climates anyway.
