It would show a great deal of bipartisanship if he would appoint a democrat and not tip the balance of power as a result of a horrible tragedy.
Yet, when Paul Coverdall (sp) R, GA died of a heart attack, the DEMOCERAT governor IMMEDIATELY sent a DEMOCRAT replacement to Washington.
That appointment, pus Jeffords secession from New England, gave Dasshole the democrat majority in the Senate that stopped Bush's agenda cold from 2000 through 2004.

Uhh, actually, the Senate was only in the hands of the D's between the middle of 2001 till early 2002, when we retook the Senate.
