As far as the pensions go the track record of major corporations for the last 10 years or so has been to move out of this country leaving long term employees with a small severage package and no pension whatsoever or to file bankruptcy and have some activist judge rule against the employee, thus they lose their pension.

Sounds bleak.  Still, most wage earners do have pension plans and all car drivers should have insurance.  Virtually all of us benefit when the corporations we own through pensions/insurance do well.

But hey, let's just say that we don't care what happens to our welfare taxes if nobody sets up a pension and we don't care if other drivers have car insurance.  That leaves about half of all households --54 million-- owning stocks.
