I don't think anyone has any problem with adding a menorah or two.
I think the Seattle airport Admin. has simply gone PC nuts,
as might be expected of public officials.
Having BOTH a tree and a menorah indicates TOLERANCE.
Having NEITHER because of some unfounded fears it might offend someone, indicates INTOLERANCE (in fact, it leaves
the place with nothing to 'tolerate').
So Seattle airport is therefore very 'intolernant' of
diversity in American life. . .
There. Fixed it.
I'm speculating, but I will bet that, at the bottom of the Port of Seattle's reasoning over this issue, concern over the possible reaction of Muslims, CAIR and rabid islamofascists over the inclusion of a Menorah at an airport was a huge factor.
After all: they just got busted in Minneapolis for praying in an airport, so that would be a perfect excuse, in their eyes, to raise hell over a "Jewish symbol" in an airport.
My guess is that the POS (thats Port of Seattle folks) saw this as a potential issue and elected to punt.
I do. Its a religous symbol! A Christmas tree is secular and is a German idea, not a Christian one. Personally I think this Rabbi should be made to feel like a sack of steaming dogcrap and made an example of for the next liberal schmuck wanting to open their big mouths and use lawyers.
No, having a tree AND a menorah AND a crescent moon indicates TOLERANCE. Or a tree and a menorah and a crescent moon and a wicca symbol. Where does it end? The threat was made, so the offending article was removed. I would the that the Rabbi would be satisfied with that.
