Terrorists abroad have spent decades preparing for war against the west, studying American culture, identifying all of the cracks in the mortar, all of the weak links in our chain of command and the soft spots in our defenses that make the worlds last remaining super-power a vulnerable target for any terrorists willing to die for the cause.
In retrospect, America's weaknesses were more obvious to others than most Americans thought.

What must change to survive such an enemy?

How do we do that?
I tried, but the popups are daunting. Don't call names.
Had modern Republicrats been conservaitves, they'd still be in power... with or without the MSM...
Age of terror, age of illusions. At link above. Also a must read.
We need to find a President with the answer to this question...
Google the title... it's elsewhere.
Not MY creation (darn it!).
Sent to me by my equally disturbed cousin in Florida so it MAY be his.
Roosevelt did it through Dec 7 1941 and then made sure no one forgotten that date. 9/11 has been forgotten, on top of that the enemy today hasnt been defined.
Most of the RATS and RINOS are spineless, notable exceptions are Lieberman and Zell Miller who are "conservative." The lefties are pro-terrorist, anti-military and anti-US. They will not elect somebody who "is messing up the world and advancing imperialism, oil stealing and just outright "insensitive to other cultures". All code names for defeatism. Look at John Kerry, who advocated Iraqi regime change because of WMDs, as did the Clinton administration, he now attacks the military at every chance and talks about our troops "terrorizing" women and children at night! Did he mention anything about the real terrorists? Sounds like poor O.J. Simpson who still can't find the real killers!
Do they really think that most of the American public even knows enough to be aware of what they're doing? Or, is it just the media messing up the works and stirring up the uneducated that they're afraid of?
These two are intertwined. The MSM and the foreign MSM, such as the BBC, will put any of what I suggested as the epitome of "terrorism", imperialism and arrogance. Unfortunately, a large segment of the American public buys into or "want" to believe this communism and all what they see in front of them is the "criminal" action of a stand-up US president and/or government.
Case in point, last election result is touted by the MSM as: Americans wanted a change of course in Iraq. They even dared to say, which isn't true, that the public wanted immediate withdrawal out of Iraq!!
Why does a RINO like Chuck Hagel act like Chuck Schumer is beyond me. Maybe he wants to be loved by the media.
To many people in the new Out-House or Senate, US interests and security comes tenth, that if it meant something to any of them.
Just my opinion.
Excellent article. Although, I believe it's our media elite (or whatever you want to call them) who don't have the will to fight, and they have been working 24/7 to convince Americans to think as they do, and it is working. Add that to that the fact many media drones want Republicans out of power, and so must use the war as a batting ram again W. Bush and you have people who seem to be working for the enemy. The terrorists understand that very well. They understand our media and power structures well, and are using them for their war against us. A lot of those with power and influence are too arrogant to see it.
"At home, American citizens busy at work or play, preferring to believe that the enemy is no longer able to attack on American soil, seeking to treat the Mohammad Attas of the world as innocent until proven guilty under American criminal justice codes, make even easier targets. Western lawyers can not win the war against international terrorism. Western diplomats can not negotiate peace with people commanded by Allah to kill. Americans willing to wait until Iran has nuclear weapons before asking what they intend to do with them, or willing to assume that North Korea will act honorably with their nuclear technology until they don't, are an enemies dream.
Again, many of the people who have power & influence actually believe laywers and diplomats are the solution. And they have been trying to sell the public this illusion. It's no wonder Americans want to believe them and to accept these illusions because fighting terror costs us and is painful. Better to listen to the Chamberlains of the world...who will tell them what they wish was true.
"melancholy", if you have any free time at all please go and read what "Mia T" has posted about the link between the Clintons and the Foley matter. This is part of the reason why we lost Rick Santorum!!

I think you underestimate the power of reporting, selecting what is to be reported, and the bias of said documents. He/They who control the dispersement of information set(s) the agenda.
Nancee,
Thanks I read some very quickly. I tell ya, this is why we're in a "cold" civil war! Unfortunately, something has to give and it ain't gonna be pretty!
Mia T,
Thanks a lot for your dedication. You certainly are not MIA!!!

See, that's what I was talking about. Giving in to the defeatists.
It's too early to tell. They aren't in power yet. The real test is next year.
Sure wish you were wrong! At some point, the ignorant American must claim responsibility for at least his ignorance though, no?
Tell your friend that according to Muslim terrorists, he has no religion, since he avoids the commandments in the Koran to kill all infidels...
I'm with you, but the terrorists aren't.
Maybe, but one thing is clear... it's impossible to underestimate the good sense of the average American voter today...
At some point, don't we have to claim responsibility for our own laziness and ignorance? Or is everything the media's fault?
You and I clearly depend upon ourselves for the quality of the information we work with. Why shouldn't the rest be held to that standard? After all, we are each responsible for self-governance. If that is based on B.S., and we accept that B.S. because we are too lazy or distracted to find truth, who can be blamed?
