"...a small but spirited rally in San Francisco..."

How 'small', and how 'spirited', one wonders aloud. I'm guessing a dozen or so, tops; hardly national news....................oh, except that they're calling for Bush's impeachment. We've had dozens of far larger FReeper gatherings in the past calling for Clinton to face charges that were roundly ignored by the press.

No bias here........move along..........

"Anymore you can think of?????"

OH yes.......but you've got a great start there. Bill Clinton alone could keep several full time prosecutors busy for years......

There are none. Impeachment is being put on trial, and is done by the House. To convict requires 2/3 vote of the Senate (67 senators). If the person impeached (can be an executive branch member or a judge) does not get the 2/3 vote he does not leave office.

2 presidents have been impeached, 0 successfully removed.

From the Andrew Johnson impeachment:

" To the suggestion that popular opinion demands the conviction of the President o these charges, I reply that he is not now on trial before the people, byt before the Senate. In the words of Lord Eldon, upon the trial of the Queen, "I take no notice of what is passing out of doors, because I am supposed constitutionally not to be acquainted with it ." And again, "It is the duty of those on whom a judicial task is imposed to meet reproach and not court popularity." The people have not heard the evidence as we have heard it. The responsibility is not on them, but upon us. They have not taken an oath to "do impartial justice according to the Constitution and the laws." I have taken that oath. I cannot render judgment upon their convictions, nor can they transfer to themselves my punishment if I violate my own. And I should consider myself undeserving the confidence of that just and intelligent people who imposed upon me this great responsibility, and unworthy a place among honorable men, if for any fear of public reprobation, and for the sake securing popular favor, I should disregard the conviction of my judgment and my conscience.

The consequences which may follow either from conviction or acquittal are not for me, with my convictions, to consider. The future is in the hands of Him who made and governs the universe, and the fear that He will not govern it wisely and well would not excuse me for a violation of His law. "

"Nor can I suffer my judgment of the law foverning this case to be influenced by political considerations. I cannot agree to destroy the harmonious working of the Constitution for the sake of getting rid of an unacceptable President. Whatever may be my opinion of the incumbent, I cannot consent to trifle with the high office he holds. I can do nothing which, by implication, may be construed into an approval of impeachments as a part of future political machinery."

"To convict and depose the Chief Magistrate of a great nation, when his guilt was not made palpable by the record, and for insufficient cause, would be fraught with far greater danger to the future of the country than can arise from leaving Mr. Johnson in office for the remaining months of his term, with powers curtailed and limited as they have been by recent legislation."

Wonder if the Democrats would follow this precedent they cited 8 years ago.

I avoided anything political after the election - otherwise I would have had to admit that there are not as many conservatives as claimed. No real conservative would want to see Pelosi, Inc. in control. In control of our armed forces, WOT,economy, immigration, SCOTUS appointees, our children's future.....all to a certain extent of course. A lot of damage can be done within two years.

Thanks (I think) for the CA stats. It presents quite a picture.

Foreplay. Class hasn't started yet, the teachers haven't entered the classrooms...yet. I wait, the ball is in their court.

"...Hillary wants that job and she'll kill Nancy Pelosi to get it..."

Surely you're not suggesting that a klintoon would be involved in anything as tawdry as murder, are you, goldstategop?

OK, OK, I'll stop calling you 'Shirley'!

Actually, Bush and Cheney could do some end-of-the-world-of-islam ass-kicking on the muzzies, then smile and hand the job to pelosi! She'd crap her elastic hose, hildabeaste would have a coronary, and we could all celebrate. Just a thought...

Remember to count the mosques in your neighbourhood, note their location, then stay well armed and safe!.................FRegards

You forget, if they vote to get Bush the they won't have the guts and support to get Cheney. The country can't take it. There are too many moderates wimps.

I feel the same way; they'll never know the world as we have known it. I look at their faces and their wonder at the world and I just want to scream.

Hillary wants that job and she'll kill Nancy Pelosi to get it.

Not only that, but the Bushes and Clintons probably have so much dirt on each other arising from what went on at the Mena, Arkansas airport with CIA arms going out and Clinton cocaine coming back in, that each will protect the other from any kind of really serious legal threat.

Impeachment is like an indictment. The House of Representatives impeaches a president it feels is guilty of "high crimes and misdemeanors" and sends the impeachment to the Senate for a trial. If the Senate voes to convict by 2/3 or more, the president is out. The House impeached Clinton, but the Senate didn't even get to a 50% vote to convict.

Thanks for all your answers. I never thoroughly understood what happened with Clinton. I'll have to do some of my own research, now that I have a basic idea.

On the issue of impeachment, I do have this to say: If they waste time and distract our government from their duties with this impeachment crap, and something happens to my husband or any of his fellow military members because they (meaning the Dhimmicrats) can't get their collective heads out of their a$$e$, well....I don't want to get banned.

He and I can handle the sacrifices that come with his enlistment normally, but I will not have him sold out and left to swing in the wind so that Pelosi can appease her moonbat fanbase.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. He won't be leaving for Iraq until February, but as I listen to all these democrats, all I hear is gibberish, and it makes me very nervous.
