I'm waiting for the 'Bush-Bashers' choir to start with their 'we should have gone in and blanket bombed the place and flattened it'. blah, blah, blah.
IMO this would have been the worst thing we could have done , and if anyone gives it any serious thought hopefully they would see it was not possible.
We are not at war against the citizens of Iraq. We went into Iraq to topple the Saddam regime and the terrorists who have massed in Iraq.
Everyone thought or knew, [which has turned out to be right ] - Saddam DID have WMD's as anyone would know without a doubt if they've taken the time to read jveritas translations. We also knew and have since found out that many were buried in secret underground locations, and in all probability there still are many buried who knows where, besides the ones that were removed immediately preceding the start of the war. Not knowing where the ones buried were located could have been a disaster not only on the citizens of Iraq but also to our troops on the ground if blanket bombing had occurred. These were not just bombs and caches as in other wars, these weapons contained deadly chemicals that could contaminate thousands of miles in area and caused damage or killed millions of innocent lives were they exploded, which means extreme caution had to be implemented and by all appearances to use all necessary caution is the plan the President and his advisor's have followed.

Saddam said he had WMD, and proved it by killing 1000's of his own citizens. The UN said so too. Tell me are you too stupid to believe either????

Many people are, not because they're stupid but because the media drudges out 5,000 voices in opposition, for all kinds of reasons and none for the current strategy. For good measure they also make sure to include 3 statesments a day of "this is fact - this is not debateable - everybody knows this" in their coverage. This has the effect of making even some of the most steadfast have their doubts. If they'd done it in WW2 we may well have pulled out only to face a stronger enemy years later, all because "everyone knew" it was a "mistake" to "attack" in '41. Too bad Ted Turner wasn't in business yet. He could have done wonders - for the enemy.
