Yaelle,
You should know how it was done in the old days with tradition Jews (and possbly today with some Haredim).
The newly weds retire to their Chuppa for a half hour as everyone goes to the reception. After they are finished and dressed the sheet is inspected for the appropriate bloodstain.

In Modern Orthdox and Conservative wedding ceremonies, there is still a Chuppa, but the groom generally eats something, as he has fasted all day. (Whether he nibbles on his wife is another question. Given the amount of time put into hair and make up, I think not!)

We had that at our wedding as well, though just with the plate of fruit and such. :) I am forgetting the word for that private time as new husband and wife.

The Chuppa is only allotted a half-hour?

I will refrain from ANY further remarks, since they will get me branded a) anti-Semitic and/or b) tawdry (more than usual, even).
